How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Technical Project & Estimating Manager

    Outskirts of Maidstone | £40,000 - £55,000 + Excellent Career Progression

Are you someone who enjoys solving technical problems, managing multiple projects and leading people in a fast-moving manufacturing environment?

We're recruiting for an ambitious engineering business looking to appoint a Technical Project & Estimating Manager to take ownership of a busy commercial function. This is an opportunity to join a business that's continuing to grow, where you'll play a key role in supporting customers, leading a small team and driving operational improvements.

This isn't a role for someone who wants a quiet desk job. It's a fast-paced environment where you'll be juggling priorities, making commercial decisions and working closely with customers, production and senior management. In return, you'll have genuine autonomy, excellent progression opportunities and the chance to make a real impact.

    The Role

Reporting into senior leadership, you'll oversee the estimating and quotations function whilst leading a small team and supporting projects from initial enquiry through to successful handover.

    Your responsibilities will include:

Managing and developing a small commercial and estimating team.

Producing accurate quotations from customer enquiries, technical drawings and specifications.

Reviewing project requirements and identifying practical manufacturing solutions.

Coordinating multiple quotations and customer projects simultaneously.

Working closely with production, engineering and commercial teams to ensure projects run smoothly.

Building strong relationships with customers, suppliers and internal stakeholders.

Improving systems, processes and efficiencies across the department.

Supporting continuous improvement and helping drive the business forward.

    About You

We're looking for an energetic, commercially aware professional who enjoys working at pace and leading from the front.

    You'll ideally have:

Experience within a manufacturing or engineering environment.

A background in estimating, quotations, project management, technical sales or commercial engineering.

The ability to confidently read and interpret engineering drawings.

Previous experience managing or supervising a team.

    Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.

Strong IT and systems knowledge, ideally using ERP/MRP or similar business systems.

Outstanding organisational skills with the ability to prioritise multiple projects under pressure.

A proactive approach with plenty of initiative and a desire to continuously improve processes.

This role would particularly suit someone currently working as a:

    Technical Project Manager

    Engineering Project Manager

    Technical Estimator

    Senior Estimator

    Applications Engineer

    Commercial Engineer

    Technical Sales Engineer

Project Engineer looking for greater commercial responsibility

    What's On Offer

Competitive salary of £40,000-£55,000 depending on experience.

    Genuine opportunities for career progression.

Join a growing, successful manufacturing business.

Varied, technically interesting work where no two days are the same.

Supportive leadership team that values ideas and initiative.

    Long-term career stability.

If you're looking for a role where you can combine technical knowledge, commercial awareness and leadership within a thriving engineering business, we'd love to hear from you
