How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Mechanical Design Engineer - High-End Residential & Commercial

    Remote (UK)
    £40-£45 per hour
    6-Month Contract | Outside IR35

    An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join a specialist Building Services consultancy delivering luxury residential and high-end commercial office developments.

    This Mechanical Design Engineer role is ideal for someone who enjoys taking ownership of mechanical building services designs and working independently across technically demanding projects. You'll be responsible for delivering Stage 5 mechanical designs while supporting the successful delivery of prestigious developments from detailed design through to construction.

    The successful Mechanical Design Engineer will join a highly experienced consultancy, working remotely on a portfolio of premium Building Services projects.

    The Role

    As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you'll be responsible for:

    Designing mechanical building services systems for luxury residential and commercial office developments
    Producing detailed Stage 5 mechanical designs and construction information
    Designing HVAC, ventilation, heating, cooling and public health systems
    Producing mechanical calculations, specifications and technical documentation
    Preparing CAD drawings as part of the design process
    Coordinating designs with multidisciplinary engineering teams
    Supporting projects through construction and technical design stages
    Ensuring designs comply with current regulations and industry standardsThis Mechanical Design Engineer position offers the opportunity to work on prestigious, design-led Building Services projects within a flexible remote working environment.

    What We're Looking For

    We're looking for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer who can work independently and deliver high-quality detailed designs.

    Ideally, you'll have:

    Previous experience as a Mechanical Design Engineer within a Building Services consultancy
    Strong experience delivering Stage 5 mechanical designs
    Excellent knowledge of HVAC and mechanical building services systems
    Ability to produce your own CAD drawings
    Strong understanding of UK Building Regulations and industry standards
    Excellent communication and technical problem-solving skillsThe following would be highly advantageous:

    Revit experience
    Experience working on luxury residential developments
    Commercial office project experience
    Ability to provide your own laptop and software licencesWhy Apply?
