How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

    Vehicle Technician BMW

    Location: Thorne
    Salary: £32,676.80 – £45,947.20 per annum, depending on qualification level
    Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
    Department: Operations – Mechanical
    Hours: Full-time, shift-based role. Flexibility around shift work required.
    Reports to: Mechanical FLM

    The Role

    We are looking for an experienced Vehicle Technician to join the mechanical operations team in Thorne.

    The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out vehicle repairs in line with BMW approved repair methods, manufacturer repair instructions and company quality standards. This role requires a skilled technician who can diagnose faults efficiently, complete repairs to a high standard and work within manufacturer repair times.

    This is a hands-on role suited to someone with strong motor trade experience, good technical knowledge and the ability to work well as part of a busy workshop team.

    Salary / Skillset Structure

    Salary is based on qualification and high voltage skill level:

    Technician NVQ3 / IMI3 with no experience, entry level: £14.57 per hour / £30,305.60 per annum

    Technician NVQ3 / IMI3 with HV Level 2: £15.71 per hour / £32,676.80

    Technician NVQ3 / IMI3 with HV Level 3: £17.64 per hour/ £36,691.20

    Technician NVQ3 / IMI3 with HV Level 4: £20.62 per hour / £42,889.60

    Technician NVQ3 / IMI3 with HV Level 4 and HVT+: £22.09 per hour / £45,947.20

    Key Responsibilities

    * Carry out vehicle repairs using BMW approved repair methods and best practice techniques. Diagnose vehicle faults efficiently and work within manufacturer repair times. Download and follow repair instructions using BMW ISTA.

    * Ensure all repairs are fully documented in line with company policy and quality standards.

    * Take ownership of vehicles and responsibility for repairs undertaken.

    * Ensure correct clockings are completed on each job.

    * Prioritise vehicles marked as urgent to ensure bookings and deadlines are met.

    * Use materials and consumables in the most cost-effective way.

    * Learn new repair methods and techniques through BMW training and apply them in the workshop.

    * Maintain a clean, safe and tidy working environment. Follow all site health and safety guidelines.

    * Work flexibly on a day-to-day basis depending on operational requirements.

    * Communicate clearly with workshop teams, accounts teams, other technicians and management.

    * Comply with working time legislation and company procedures.

    * Complete any additional duties requested by the management team.

    Requirements

    * Minimum 3 years’ experience in the motor trade.

    * Level 3 City & Guilds, NVQ Level 3, IMI Level 3 or equivalent qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair.

    * High Voltage qualification, ideally HV Level 2, Level 3, Level 4 or HVT+.

    * Strong vehicle repair and fault diagnosis experience.

    * Ability to work as part of a team and able to work under pressure and hit targets.

    * Good verbal and written communication skills. Good standard of education, including core GCSE subjects.

    * Valid full UK driving licence.

    * Fluent English language skills.
