How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Bodyshop First Line Manager
    BMW Team Manager

    Location: Thorne
    Salary: £36,171.20 - £39,000 per annum
Hourly Rate: From £17.39 per hour
    Role Type: Full-time, Permanent

    The Role

We are looking for a Bodyshop First Line Manager / Bodyshop Supervisor to join a busy BMW VDC bodyshop operation in Thorne.

This is a leadership role where you will support the day-to-day running of the Bodyshop, Panel Shop and Rapid Repair areas. You will be responsible for managing workflow, controlling Work in Progress (WIP), allocating repairs, monitoring repair progress and ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently and to the highest quality standards.

Working closely with the Bodyshop Manager, Workshop Controllers, Workshop Seniors and Technicians, you will help maximise productivity, maintain repair throughput, resolve operational issues and ensure customer expectations and business targets are achieved.

This role would suit someone with strong bodyshop, workshop control or supervisory experience who enjoys leading people, organising repair flow and driving performance in a fast-paced automotive environment.

    Key Responsibilities

    *

Supervise daily operations across the Bodyshop, Panel Shop and Rapid Repair areas.

    *

Coordinate workflow, allocate repairs and manage WIP to ensure vehicles progress in line with completion targets.

    *

Monitor productivity, efficiency, utilisation, attendance, timekeeping and overall team performance.

    *

Ensure all repairs are completed in line with BMW repair methods, manufacturer standards, company procedures and quality requirements.

    *

Review job cards, repair documentation, warranty records, operational reports and workshop planning.

    *

Carry out quality checks, audits and inspections to maintain high standards of workmanship.

    *

Act as a first point of escalation for workshop issues, repair delays and customer-related queries.

    *

Liaise with technicians, estimators, parts, customer service teams and management to maintain smooth communication and workflow.

    *

Lead daily briefings, communicate priorities and support a positive, accountable team culture.

    *

Support performance reviews, return-to-work interviews, probation reviews, disciplinary processes, recruitment, onboarding and training where required.

    *

Promote continuous improvement, health and safety, housekeeping standards and correct use of workshop equipment.

    *

Ensure compliance with company policies, SOPs, BMW site standards, ISO 9001, ISO 45001, ISO 14001 and ISO 50001 requirements.

    Skills & Experience

    *

Previous experience within an automotive bodyshop, accident repair or vehicle repair environment.

    *

Experience in a supervisory, team leader, workshop controller or bodyshop coordination role.

    *

Strong understanding of bodyshop processes, vehicle repair methods and manufacturer repair standards.

    *

Ability to manage WIP, prioritise workloads and maintain workshop productivity.

    *

Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate, coach and develop a team.

    *

Excellent planning, organisation, communication and problem-solving skills.

    *

Confident making operational decisions in a fast-paced workshop environment.

    *

High attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.

    *

Good IT skills, including bodyshop management systems and Microsoft Office.

    *

Understanding of KPIs, productivity, efficiency, utilisation and performance data.

    *

Good understanding of health and safety requirements within a bodyshop environment.

    Why This Role?

This is a strong opportunity to step into a leadership position within a professional BMW VDC bodyshop operation. The role offers real ownership over workflow, repair quality, WIP, team performance and customer satisfaction, making it ideal for someone looking to progress within bodyshop management
