How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Ready to take ownership of crop production in a modern, forward-thinking growing operation?

We're recruiting on behalf of an exciting and expanding horticultural business that has recently invested in a modern production facility supporting one of the UK's leading online plant retailers.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Grower who enjoys being hands-on, thrives in a fast-paced commercial environment, and wants to play a key role in producing high-quality plants at scale.

Working closely with an experienced Senior Grower, you'll become the driving force behind the day-to-day management of crops, taking ownership of irrigation, crop health, and nursery standards while helping to ensure production runs smoothly and efficiently.

If you're the sort of person who spots issues before they become problems, enjoys working autonomously, and takes genuine pride in growing exceptional plants, we'd love to hear from you.

    Why Join?

Take on a key role with real ownership and responsibility
    Work alongside experienced horticultural professionals
Be part of a growing and ambitious business
Exposure to modern growing techniques and infrastructure
Opportunity to make a visible impact on crop quality and production performance
Develop your career within a high-volume commercial nursery environment

    The Role

This is a varied and rewarding position where you'll play a central role in maintaining crop quality and supporting commercial production targets.

You'll be heavily involved in the day-to-day growing operation, ensuring crops receive the highest standards of care while working proactively to keep the nursery running efficiently.

    Key responsibilities will include:

Managing the irrigation of containerised plants and trees across glasshouse and outdoor growing areas
Monitoring crop requirements and adapting watering regimes based on weather, crop development, pot size, and growing conditions
Applying chemical and biological treatments safely and accurately
Identifying and responding to pests, diseases, and nutrient deficiencies
Supporting crop maintenance activities including potting, spacing, pruning, weeding, and general nursery husbandry
Monitoring environmental conditions and helping optimise growing performance
Maintaining accurate crop records and treatment data
Working closely with dispatch, stock control, and production teams
Supporting and mentoring less experienced team members where appropriate
Helping to ensure exceptional plant quality is maintained across the nursery

    About You

We're looking for a practical and commercially minded grower with strong horticultural knowledge and a passion for producing quality crops.

You will likely have experience within a commercial nursery, production horticulture environment, or large-scale plant production business.

    You'll ideally have:

Solid hands-on experience in commercial growing
A good level of irrigation knowledge
The ability to identify common pests and diseases
Experience applying plant protection products and biological controls
A proactive and organised approach to work
The confidence to work independently and make day-to-day decisions
Excellent attention to detail and crop awareness
    Strong communication and teamwork skills

    Essential Qualifications

NPTC PA1 (Safe Use of Pesticides)
    NPTC PA6A (Handheld/Knapsack Applicator)

    Other details

    £28,000 - £35,000 depending on experience
    Full-time permanent position
    Seasonal weekend rota
Career development opportunities within a growing business
    Modern facilities and infrastructure
    Supportive and knowledgeable team environment
