How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    SENIOR MECHANICAL DESIGN ENGINEER
    Location: Gosport
    Salary: £52,000 - £58,500 + Benefits
    We are supporting a leading engineering and technology organisation in their search for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join their expanding design team.

    This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced mechanical design engineer to take ownership of complex engineering projects, leading the development of innovative mechanical solutions within a highly regulated environment. You'll provide technical leadership, mentor engineers and work closely with customers, project managers and manufacturing teams to deliver high-integrity engineering solutions from concept through to production.

    The Role: As Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for:

    Mechanical Design Leadership – Leading the delivery of complex mechanical design solutions while taking ownership of technical outputs and engineering quality.
    Concept Development – Developing innovative engineering concepts, evaluating design options and guiding teams through design reviews and technical decision-making.
    Technical Leadership – Providing mentoring and technical guidance to engineers while promoting engineering best practice across the design team.
    Design Reviews – Planning, leading and chairing technical design reviews, presenting engineering solutions confidently to customers and internal stakeholders.
    Project Delivery – Supporting the successful delivery of projects by capturing requirements, managing technical risks and ensuring designs meet customer, commercial and regulatory requirements.
    Design for Manufacture (DFM/DFA) – Applying Design for Manufacture and Design for Assembly principles throughout the product lifecycle to optimise production and performance.
    Stakeholder Collaboration – Working closely with project managers, manufacturing teams, suppliers and customers to ensure successful project delivery.
    Safety & Governance – Supporting engineering governance activities including hazard identification, safety case development and technical assurance.
    Continuous Improvement – Driving improvements in engineering processes, design methodologies and technical standards across the wider engineering community. What We're Looking For:
    Degree, HNC or HND in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, Industrial Design or a related engineering discipline.
    Significant experience delivering mechanical design solutions within a regulated engineering environment.
    Strong experience using Siemens NX to produce 3D models and technical drawings.
    Excellent understanding of Design for Manufacture (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA).
    Experience leading technical design reviews and mentoring engineers.
    Strong understanding of engineering project lifecycles and requirements management.
    Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
    Commercial awareness with the ability to balance technical, cost and delivery objectives
