How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    The Opportunity

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their growing commercial team in Dublin, supporting the delivery of a major new Irish Rail infrastructure contract.

This is an exciting opportunity to join at the mobilisation stage of a long-term framework, where you will play a pivotal role in establishing commercial processes, driving project performance and helping to build a high-performing commercial function from the ground up.

Working closely with the Head of Commercial and Account Director, you will take ownership of key commercial activities across multiple workstreams while supporting the growth and development of the wider team. This role offers an excellent opportunity for an ambitious Senior Quantity Surveyor looking to make a real impact on a nationally significant infrastructure programme.

Our client continues to expand across Ireland through long-term partnerships with organisations including Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) and Iarnród Éireann, delivering projects that improve rail connectivity, enhance safety, increase network resilience and support the transition to lower-carbon transport infrastructure.

    Key Responsibilities

As Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for:

    * Managing all pre-contract and post-contract commercial activities across major infrastructure projects.

    * Taking ownership of cost management, budgeting, forecasting and financial reporting to ensure commercial success.

    * Preparing, reviewing and managing compensation events, variations and contractual changes in accordance with contract requirements.

    * Leading subcontract procurement, contract administration, valuations and payment processes.

    * Managing applications for payment, commercial reporting and estimating activities.

    * Building and maintaining strong working relationships with clients, subcontractors and internal stakeholders.

    * Supporting the mobilisation and development of the commercial team as the contract continues to grow.

    * Working closely with senior leadership to improve commercial processes and drive operational excellence.

    * Supporting pricing negotiations and commercial discussions with clients and supply chain partners.

    * Mentoring, coaching and developing junior commercial team members.

    * Providing commercial support across multiple projects while maintaining high levels of accuracy and contractual compliance.

    About You

We're looking for a commercially driven professional who can combine strong technical knowledge with excellent stakeholder management skills.

    Essential Experience

    * Previous experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor, Commercial Manager or in a similar senior commercial role within infrastructure, rail or civil engineering.

    * Strong commercial awareness with proven experience in cost control, forecasting and financial management.

    * Experience managing subcontract procurement, supply chain relationships and payment processes.

    * Strong understanding of estimating, applications for payment and commercial reporting.

    * Excellent negotiation and communication skills with the ability to build lasting client relationships.

    * Experience working within fast-paced environments, particularly during contract mobilisation or business growth.

    * Good understanding of Design & Construction contract forms, including NEC or similar target cost contracts.

    Qualifications

    * Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.

    * RICS, SCSI accreditation or working towards chartership would be highly advantageous.

    Skills & Competencies

    The successful candidate will demonstrate:

    * Excellent commercial judgement and analytical skills.

    * Strong contractual knowledge and risk management capability.

    * High attention to detail with excellent financial accuracy.

    * Outstanding communication and stakeholder management skills.

    * Ability to prioritise workloads across multiple projects.

    * Leadership qualities with a passion for mentoring and developing others.

    * A proactive, solutions-focused approach to commercial challenges.

    Why Join Our Client?

This is an opportunity to become part of a growing infrastructure business delivering nationally significant rail projects across Ireland. You'll join at an exciting stage of growth, with the chance to influence how the commercial team develops while working on long-term frameworks that offer genuine career progression.

Our client is committed to investing in its people, supporting professional development and creating an inclusive environment where everyone can thrive.
