How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Location: Gravesend, Kent
    Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
    Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00am – 5:30pm

    Absolute Law Recruitment are working with our client based in Gravesend, Kent, who are seeking a professional, personable and customer-focused Front of House / Receptionist to join their busy office.

    As the first point of contact for clients and visitors, you will play a key role in creating a warm and professional first impression. You'll be responsible for ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of reception, providing administrative support to colleagues, and delivering a high standard of client care at every interaction.

    This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong customer service background who enjoys working in a fast-paced, professional environment. Previous legal or reception experience would be beneficial but is not essential.

    Key Responsibilities

    Reception & Client Care

    * Provide a professional, friendly and welcoming reception service to clients and visitors.

    * Deliver a consistently high standard of customer service.

    * Answer, screen and direct incoming telephone calls promptly and professionally.

    * Meet and greet clients and notify the relevant colleague of their arrival.

    * Manage meeting room bookings and ensure rooms are prepared for client meetings.

    * Maintain reception, client waiting areas and meeting rooms to a high professional standard.

    * Offer refreshments to clients and visitors where appropriate.

    Administrative Support

    * Open, sort, scan and distribute incoming post to the relevant departments and colleagues.

    * Prepare outgoing post and arrange courier collections where required.

    * Assist with photocopying, scanning, printing and document preparation.

    * Provide general administrative support to colleagues across the office.

    * Order and maintain office stationery and supplies.

    * Support other office locations when required.

    About You

    * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

    * A professional, friendly and approachable manner.

    * Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise a busy workload.

    * Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.

    * Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and general office systems.

    * The ability to work independently and as part of a team.

    * A proactive, flexible and positive approach to work.

    * The ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
