How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Social Worker – Assessment Team - Wigan Council

    Location: Wigan 

    Pay/Salary: up to £40 per hour

    Office Working: 2-3 Days per week

    Contract: Locum

    We are currently working with Wigan Council to find an experienced Advanced Practitioner for their Duty and Assessment Team within Children’s Services. With a stable management team and a mostly permanent workforce, Wigan are looking for someone with solid experience to be able to pick up a caseload. The Duty service is fast paced service consisting of 5 duty teams. Each team has a Team Manager, Advanced Practitioner, Senior Social worker and 6 Social Workers. You will be on duty once every 5 weeks.

    Duties

    Carry out needs led child focused assessments

    Hold a small, but complex caseload of single assessments (S17) and S47 investigations (this includes opportunities for co-working to support less experienced practitioners)

    Participate in the duty system, responding to safeguarding concerns

    Prioritise demand and make effective use of time

    Listen and promote the voice of the child at the heart of plans

    Offer mentoring, coaching and support to less experienced team members

    Ensure Family Safeguarding Model is embedded in practice

    Enabling learning circles, group discussions and reflective supervision

    What you need

    Social Work Qualification

    Social Work England registration

    Enhanced DBS (provided by us)
