How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    SEMH Teaching Assistant
    Location: Brighton Area
    Salary: £85.50 per day
    Hours: 8:45am – 3:15pm
    Start Date: September

    Due to ongoing growth within the SEMH Middle School we support, Masterclass are looking to appoint three dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistants to join the team in September.

    This is a rewarding opportunity to support young people with social, emotional and mental health needs at a crucial stage in their education. You will play a key role in helping pupils overcome barriers to learning, build resilience and achieve positive outcomes both academically and personally.

    The Role

    As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will:

    * Support pupils with SEMH needs within the classroom and in small group settings

    * Build positive, trusting relationships with young people

    * Help create a safe, structured and engaging learning environment

    * Assist the class teacher in delivering creative and inclusive lessons

    * Support pupils with emotional regulation and social development

    * Promote positive behaviour and encourage engagement in learning

    We Are Looking For Someone Who:

    * Is passionate about supporting young people with additional needs

    * Has experience working with children or young people (SEMH, SEND or alternative provision experience desirable)

    * Is patient, resilient and calm under pressure

    * Can build strong, professional relationships with pupils and staff

    * Works well as part of a collaborative team

    Masterclass Education provide CPD recognised online training, covering subjects such as Safeguarding, Autism Awareness, Understanding Child Development, Violence Reduction, and more, to all our candidates.

    Must have:

    * Ability to work well independently and as a team

    * Has a passion to support and empower children and young people

    * A DBS on the Updates Service or willing to obtain one

    * Commitment to safeguarding students and young people
