How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Transport Supervisor - Wakefield - c.£30,000 (Monday - Friday, 10:00 - 19:00)

    The Role

    This Transport Supervisor opportunity is with a growing SME business based in Wakefield, operating a busy transport function where customer service, flexibility and operational efficiency are key to success.

    The business is looking for a hands-on Transport Supervisor to support the day-to-day running of the transport operation, ensuring vehicles are dispatched on time, drivers are supported and customer expectations are consistently met. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a close-knit team where they can make a genuine impact on the operation.

    Working closely with the wider Logistics distribution and supply chain function, you'll play a key role in maintaining service levels, improving operational performance and supporting the continued growth of the business.

    Key Responsibilities

    Supervising the day-to-day transport operation, ensuring deliveries are completed safely and on time
    Supporting transport planning and responding to live operational challenges throughout the day
    Managing driver briefings, debriefs and day-to-day operational queries
    Monitoring vehicle utilisation and identifying opportunities to improve efficiency
    Ensuring compliance with drivers' hours, Working Time Directive and transport legislation
    Working closely with warehouse and wider Logistics distribution and supply chain teams to ensure smooth operational flow
    Monitoring transport KPIs and supporting continuous improvement initiatives
    Building strong relationships with drivers, customers and internal stakeholders to maintain exceptional service levels

    Key Experience

    Previous experience operating as a Transport Supervisor, Senior Transport Planner or Transport Team Leader within a transport environment
    Strong understanding of transport operations, route planning and compliance requirements
    Experience leading or supporting transport teams within a fast-paced operation
    Excellent communication and organisational skills with the ability to prioritise changing workloads
    Experience working within a Logistics distribution and supply chain environment
    Strong IT skills with experience using Transport Management Systems (TMS)
    A proactive, hands-on approach with a passion for delivering excellent customer service and operational performance

    This Transport Supervisor role in Wakefield offers an excellent opportunity to join a growing SME business where you'll have genuine ownership of the daily transport operation, working a Monday to Friday, 10:00am - 7:00pm shift pattern with a salary of circa £30,000
