How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job Title: Deputy Manager Children's Home
    Location: Newcastle
    Start Date: Immediate Start
    Salary: £16.00 - £18.00 per hour

    Are you an experienced Deputy Manager looking to make a positive difference in the lives of children and young people?

    Do you have the leadership skills to support and motivate a dedicated residential care team?

    Are you passionate about helping young people with EBD, SEMH, Autism and Learning Disabilities achieve their full potential?

    TeacherActive is proud to be working with a well-established children's residential provider in Newcastle to recruit a Deputy Manager Children's Home. This welcoming setting provides a safe, nurturing and supportive environment for young people aged 8 to 18, placing a strong emphasis on promoting positive outcomes, independence and emotional well-being through a child-centred approach.

    The home is looking to appoint a Deputy Manager Children's Home on a long-term basis with the potential to become permanent for the right candidate. The successful Deputy Manager Children's Home will support the Registered Manager with the day-to-day running of the home, lead and mentor the care team, ensure high standards of care are maintained, and provide support to young people with EBD, SEMH, Autism and Learning Disabilities. Day and sleep-in shifts are available.

    The successful Deputy Manager Children's Home will have:

    Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (Level 5 desirable or willingness to work towards)
    Previous experience working within a children's residential setting
    Experience supporting children and young people with EBD, SEMH, Autism and Learning Disabilities
    Strong leadership, communication and organisational skills
    A child-focused approach with a positive, can-do attitude
    Flexibility to work day and sleep-in shifts
