How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    A vital lead developer role with a successful small business

    This successful company in Cambridge specialise in simulation software for industry. They are seeking a C# WPF UI Team Lead with top coding ability, a focus on productivity and testing, leadership qualities, and small company experience. They have an international reach and a family feel.

    You will be looking to join an established small business with traditional values, a respectful workplace, a strong product portfolio and secure client base. You will appreciate the merits of technical rigor, including partaking in and providing detailed training on their popular and specialised software.

    You will be a participant in further recruitment, able to assess individuals’ qualities, and mentor, develop and inspire your team. You will promote a positive and productive culture including well-tested code. You will be seeking a long term role where your expertise and contribution will be valued.

    Technical requirements:

    * Strong commercial-grade C# and WPF user interface development skills via .NET 6-10, .NET Framework 4.8 or .NET Core.

    * Some knowledge of C++ desktop UI, e.g. MFC, for occasional legacy work

    * Expertise with Windows and Microsoft technologies in general

    * Can identify with business priorities and put into effect for your team of 3+ developers, delivering to time and quality

    * Technical interview and hiring experience, onboarding experience, and mentoring skills

    * Keen to participate in, and supervise, detailed technical training with excellent documentation

    * A collaborative approach, working alongside the engine team lead

    Given the strong office culture, you will already be resident in the Cambridge area, or have strong ties here. You will have full existing long term UK work permission without visa sponsorship. Situated within cycling distance of north Cambridge, the company’s offices also offer plenty of parking on site.
