How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    The Opportunity

    Our client is a well-established and highly respected main contractor with an excellent reputation for delivering high-quality construction projects across Slough, Berkshire, and the surrounding South East region. Due to continued growth and a strong pipeline of secured work, they are looking to recruit an ambitious Graduate Quantity Surveyor to join their expanding commercial team.

    Projects Include

    Education facilities and school extensions
    Healthcare and medical refurbishments
    Commercial office developments and fit-outs
    Industrial and warehouse schemes
    Residential and mixed-use developments
    New-build and refurbishment contracts valued between £500k and £10m+The Role

    Reporting to the Senior Quantity Surveyor and Commercial Manager, you will assist with the commercial management of projects from tender stage through to final account, gaining valuable exposure to every aspect of quantity surveying.

    Key Responsibilities

    Assisting with cost planning, estimating, and tender preparation
    Measuring and valuing construction works
    Supporting subcontractor procurement and account management
    Preparing interim valuations and assisting with final accounts
    Monitoring project costs and budgets
    Assisting with variations, change control, and cost reporting
    Attending site visits, client meetings, and project progress meetings
    Maintaining accurate commercial records and project documentation
    Working closely with site and commercial teams to ensure successful project deliveryAbout You

    Degree qualified (or due to graduate) in Quantity Surveying or a related construction discipline
    Strong numerical and analytical skills
    Excellent communication and organisational abilities
    Good knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly ExcelWhat's on Offer
