How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Full-Time | 37 Hours per Week | Surrey

Our client, a well-established and forward-thinking further education college in Surrey, is seeking an experienced and inspirational Head of Additional Learning Support (ALS) to lead its inclusive learning support provision.

This is an exciting leadership opportunity for an experienced SEND professional who is passionate about improving outcomes for learners with additional needs. Working closely with senior leaders, you will play a key role in shaping the organisation's SEND strategy, leading a dedicated team, and ensuring every learner receives the support they need to succeed.

    The Opportunity

As Head of ALS, you will provide strategic and operational leadership for Additional Learning Support services, ensuring high-quality, compliant, and student-centred provision. You'll lead the development of inclusive practice across the college while working collaboratively with curriculum teams, parents, local authorities and external agencies.

    Key responsibilities include:

    * Leading and developing the Additional Learning Support team.

    * Driving the college's SEND strategy and continuous improvement initiatives.

    * Overseeing High Needs provision, EHCPs and Exam Access Arrangements.

    * Ensuring compliance with SEND legislation, JCQ regulations and funding requirements.

    * Using data and quality assurance processes to improve learner outcomes and maximise funding opportunities.

    * Building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support student success.

    About You

We're looking for a confident and compassionate leader with:

    * Significant experience within SEND or Additional Learning Support, ideally in a leadership capacity.

    * A Level 5 SEND qualification (or equivalent experience).

    * Strong knowledge of High Needs funding, EHCPs and Exam Access Arrangements.

    * Experience leading teams, managing complex learner support and working with external agencies.

    * Excellent communication, organisational and stakeholder management skills.

    * A genuine commitment to inclusive education and improving learner outcomes.

    What's on Offer

    * Salary of £48,687.93

    * Full-time, permanent position (37 hours per week)

    * A strategic leadership role with the opportunity to shape inclusive provision across the college

    * A supportive, values-led environment focused on student success and continuous improvement

    * Opportunities for ongoing professional development.

If you're an experienced SEND leader looking for your next challenge and want to make a real difference within a thriving further education setting, we'd love to hear from you.
