How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Learning Support Mentor

    Contract Type: Permanent

    Working Pattern: Full Time, Term Time Only

    Pay Scale: £23,000 – £27,000 (pro-rata)

    Essential Requirements

    To be considered, candidates must meet all of the following criteria:

    Hold a full UK driving licence and have access to a reliable vehicle for work purposes
    Level 2 qualifications or above in both English and Mathematics (e.g. GCSE Grade C/4 or equivalent)

    Role Purpose

    We are currently seeking passionate and dedicated Learning Support Mentors to join our rapidly growing team. The Learning Support Mentor will play a key role in supporting students to build their confidence, develop essential life and employability skills, and achieve personal growth. This includes delivering tailored sessions in core subject areas of Navigators customised qualifications of Level 1 Personal Development and Level 1 Employability, English, Mathematics, vocational and non-vocational courses while fostering social inclusion and resilience.

    The ideal candidate will provide mentorship, guidance, and individualised support to help students overcome barriers to learning and transition successfully into further education, training, or employment opportunities. By creating a safe and nurturing environment, the Learning Support Mentor will empower students to unlock their potential and prepare for the next step in their journey.

    Responsibilities:

    To provide 121 and small group mentoring and support to students in a community setting. The contact time will be 30 hours per week.
    To deliver academic core subjects, such as English and Mathematics.
    To facilitate engaging sessions in personal development, employability, and areas of student interest, ensuring activities align with their learning needs and career aspirations.
    To develop students' social, vocational, and life skills through engaging activities.
    To act as a motivational figure for students, helping them build confidence and resilience.
    To collaborate with the wider team to ensure a holistic approach to student development.
    To maintain accurate and detailed records of student engagement, progress and challenges.
    To participate in half-termly training and CPD.
    Commitment to safeguarding all our young people, promoting the high standards of safeguarding in the organisation at all times.

    Experience and Qualifications

    Essential:

    Relevant qualifications (GCSE / Level 2 Functional Skills English and Mathematics or other relevant sector specific e.g. BTEC / CACHE).
    Functional IT skills.
    Knowledge and understanding of SEND.
    Knowledge and understanding of Safeguarding processes.
    Basic English and Mathematics delivery experience.
    Proficient in using technology and digital tools.
    Knowledge of safeguarding processes and procedures.
    A valid driving licence and access to a vehicle to travel to students' locations (with business insurance).

    Desirable:

    1+ years' experience in working with young people in an education or residential setting.
    Holds a recognized teaching qualification (e.g. TA, HILTA, PGCE, Level 3 Award in Education and Training, or QTS).
    Previous experience working in a school or college environment, providing direct support to students.
    Familiarity with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and their significance in supporting young people with additional needs.
    Ability to understand and work toward achieving the specific outcomes outlined in each student’s EHCP, tailoring support to meet individual targets.
    Demonstrate the ability to use initiative and act with foresight to address challenges and opportunities.
    Experience in delivering sessions focused on core subjects, employability skills, personal development, and life skills
