How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Teaching Assistant | Teaching Support | Classroom Support
SEND / SEMH / Behaviour Focus – Wigan Schools

Competitive Pay | Flexible Opportunities | Immediate Start Available

Are you passionate about supporting children with additional needs in Wigan schools? Are you reliable, consistent and committed to making a difference every day?

We are recruiting dedicated Teaching Assistants and Classroom Support staff to work across primary and secondary schools in Wigan, supporting pupils with SEND, SEMH and behavioural needs in the classroom and throughout the wider school community.

Wigan schools place strong value on consistency and reliability. Pupils with additional needs thrive when the adults around them are dependable, calm and present. Your reliability is not just appreciated — it is essential.

    The Role in Wigan Schools

    You will:

    *

Support pupils with SEND, SEMH and behavioural needs in mainstream classrooms

    *

Deliver 1:1 and small group interventions

    *

Assist with emotional regulation and behaviour support strategies

    *

Adapt learning activities to meet individual needs

    *

Promote inclusion across the wider school environment

    *

Provide support during transitions, break times and structured activities

    *

Work closely with class teachers, SENCOs and pastoral teams

You will be a steady and consistent presence in a child’s day — someone they can trust and rely on.

    What Wigan Schools Expect

    *

Reliability and punctuality — consistency is key

    *

Experience supporting pupils with SEND and/or SEMH

    *

An understanding that behaviour is communication

    *

Resilience and the ability to remain calm under pressure

    *

Confidence to think on your feet

    *

Ability to take direction while also using your own initiative

    *

    Strong teamwork and communication skills

    *

    A nurturing, professional approach

Schools in Wigan need support staff who are dependable, proactive and committed to maintaining stability for vulnerable learners.

    What We Offer

    *

    Competitive rates of pay

    *

    Flexible working opportunities

    *

    Immediate start roles available

    *

Opportunities across a range of supportive Wigan schools

    *

Experience within inclusive and diverse school communities

    *

    Ongoing professional development opportunities

If you are resilient, adaptable and understand that consistency builds trust and progress, we would love to hear from you.

Be the reliable support that helps pupils in Wigan thrive.
