How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Legal Advisor - Tax & Trusts (53k to 70k): A specialist opportunity has arisen for an experienced trusts and tax professional to join a highly regarded Private Wealth team in Southampton, working with high-net-worth individuals and families on the administration and taxation of a varied portfolio of trusts.

This is a role offering both technical depth and genuine variety. You’ll take responsibility for the ongoing administration of trusts, work closely with trustees and beneficiaries, and provide practical guidance on a broad range of trust and tax matters.

Alongside managing your own work, you’ll also have the opportunity to support and mentor junior colleagues and contribute to the continued development of the wider practice.

    The role

Working as part of an experienced and collaborative Private Wealth team, you will be involved in all aspects of trust administration, including:

    * Managing the day-to-day administration of discretionary trusts and interest-in-possession trusts

    * Advising trustees on their fiduciary and statutory responsibilities

    * Supporting trustees with decision-making and the practical implementation of those decisions

    * Attending trustee and client meetings where required

    * Drafting trust deeds, trustee meeting minutes and resolutions

    * Conducting annual trust reviews

    * Preparing and maintaining trust accounts

    * Completing Trust Registration Service (TRS) filings

    * Preparing tax returns relating to income tax, capital gains tax and inheritance tax

    * Supporting, mentoring and coaching junior members of the team

    * Contributing to appropriate marketing and business development activities

The wider team advises high-net-worth clients across a broad range of private wealth matters, providing an excellent environment in which to continue developing your technical knowledge and expertise.

    About you

This opportunity could suit a qualified Solicitor or another suitably qualified professional with strong practical experience of trusts and tax matters.

    You are likely to have:

    * Relevant experience in trust administration and taxation

    * A professional qualification such as STEP or ATT, or another relevant qualification

    * Experience advising on and administering a range of trust structures

    * Knowledge of trust accounts and relevant tax compliance requirements

    * Strong technical and organisational skills

    * The confidence to manage matters proactively and work directly with trustees and clients

    * Excellent written and verbal communication skills

    * A collaborative approach and an interest in supporting the development of junior colleagues

    * A genuine commitment to providing thoughtful, high-quality advice and client service

    Why consider this opportunity?

This is an excellent opportunity to develop your career within a specialist Private Wealth team, working on interesting and technically varied matters for a sophisticated client base.

    The role offers:

    * High-quality trusts and tax work

    * Exposure to complex private wealth matters and high-net-worth clients

    * The opportunity to develop further technical expertise

    * Responsibility for your own portfolio of trust matters

    * The opportunity to mentor and support junior colleagues

    * Scope to contribute to the continued growth of the practice

    * A friendly, collaborative and supportive team environment

    * Hybrid and flexible working, with alternative working patterns considered

If you are an experienced trusts and tax professional looking to develop your career within a highly regarded Private Wealth practice, we would be delighted to hear from you
