How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job Title:
    Civil Engineer (Hydraulics)

    Salary: £45,000 to £60,000 (dependent on experience)

    Location: Glasgow, London or the Midlands

    About the Role:
    Our client is looking for a motivated Civil Engineer (Hydraulics) to support the delivery of major water and wastewater non-infrastructure projects across the UK.

    Working alongside multidisciplinary engineering teams, you'll contribute to the hydraulic analysis, design and optimisation of water and wastewater treatment works, pumping stations, storage facilities, pipelines and drainage networks. You'll gain exposure to the full project lifecycle, from feasibility and concept design through to construction and commissioning, while developing your technical expertise within a supportive environment.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Produce hydraulic calculations, network models and flow assessments.
    Support the design of water supply, wastewater and drainage infrastructure.
    Assist with hydraulic modelling using industry-standard software.
    Prepare technical reports, feasibility studies and design documentation.
    Support flood risk assessments and drainage design.
    Review survey information and network performance data.
    Work closely with civil, mechanical, electrical, process and environmental engineers.
    Liaise with clients, contractors and other stakeholders.
    Assist with cost estimates, risk assessments and optioneering studies.
    Attend site visits and surveys where required.
    Ensure designs comply with relevant standards and regulations.
    Continue developing technical knowledge through training and project experience.What Our Client is Looking For:

    Degree, HNC/HND, apprenticeship or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
    Experience within hydraulic or civil engineering through industry, placements or apprenticeships.
    Understanding of hydraulic engineering principles, including fluid mechanics, drainage design, pipe networks and flood risk.
    Experience preparing technical reports and engineering documentation.
    Familiarity with hydraulic modelling software such as InfoWorks ICM, EPANET, MicroDrainage or similar would be beneficial.
    Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
    Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet project deadlines.
    Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.What Our Client Offers:
