How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Student Support Assistant

    Location: Brighton

    Salary: £25,640 – £27,040 per annum

At BIMM University, we're more than just an educational institution; we're a vibrant community dedicated to nurturing creativity and empowering students to reach their full potential. With campuses across the UK, Ireland, and Germany, we offer a diverse range of courses in modern music, performing arts, filmmaking and creative technology. Our commitment to excellence in creative arts education sets us apart, providing students with the knowledge, skills, and opportunities they need to succeed in their chosen fields.

    About the Role

As a Student Support Assistant, you’ll be part of a centrally coordinated, digital-first support service, helping students access the information, guidance and support they need throughout their time at the University. Acting as a first point of contact, you’ll respond to enquiries across a range of channels, provide timely and accurate information, assess student needs through triage processes, and connect students with the appropriate support, resources and services.

    What You'll Do:

Respond to student enquiries via email, telephone and digital channels, ensuring a timely and professional service.
Provide first-line support to students seeking practical, pastoral or wellbeing-related guidance.
Use agreed triage processes to assess enquiries and identify appropriate support pathways.
Signpost and refer students to relevant University services, self-help resources or external support where appropriate.
Recognise indicators of risk or vulnerability and escalate concerns in line with safeguarding procedures.
Deliver calm, student-centred support that helps students feel informed and supported.
Contribute to student communications and the maintenance of digital information and support resources.
Maintain accurate, confidential and timely records using University systems and case-management processes.
Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure effective enquiry management and service delivery.

    What You'll Bring:

Experience in a customer-facing, administrative, communications or support role.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally.
Experience supporting young adults or service users within a pastoral, wellbeing or support-focused environment.
The ability to respond to sensitive situations with empathy, professionalism and sound judgement.
Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and work accurately under established processes.
Confidence using digital systems and online platforms, with a high level of attention to detail.
The ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a remote or distributed team.
An understanding of confidentiality, safeguarding and professional boundaries.
A collaborative approach and a commitment to providing an inclusive and positive student experience.

We have two Student Support Assistant positions available: one full-time role (37.5 hours per week) and one part-time role (30 hours per week). When submitting your application, please let us know whether you would like to be considered for the full-time role, the part-time role, or both opportunities.
