How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

If you're an experienced Support Worker looking for a role where you can have a genuine impact on people's lives, we'd love to hear from you.

At Avenues, we believe that great support starts with great people. We value our colleagues and invest in their development because we know that skilled, compassionate and committed teams achieve the very best outcomes for the people we support.

    About the Role

We're looking for an experienced Male Support Worker to join our specialist Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) service in Hildenborough, supporting five men with learning disabilities, autism, communication needs and behaviours of concern.

This is a rewarding but highly specialist role, where your experience, approach and values will have a direct impact on the lives of the people we support.

Previous experience supporting people with learning disabilities, autism and behaviours of concern within a PBS environment is essential.

You'll understand that behaviour is a form of communication and will be confident in using proactive, person-centred approaches that promote dignity, independence and positive outcomes. You'll know how important consistency is and recognise that the relationships you build can significantly improve a person's confidence, wellbeing and overall quality of life.

The people we support deserve the opportunity to live fulfilling lives, develop new skills, access their communities and make meaningful choices. As part of our team, you'll play a key role in making this happen every single day.

    What You'll Be Doing

No two days are the same, but you'll be:

Supporting people to live independently while promoting choice, dignity and respect.

Providing person-centred support tailored to individual needs and aspirations.

Supporting people with daily living tasks, including cooking, shopping, managing finances and maintaining their home.

    Providing personal care where required.

Using Positive Behaviour Support approaches to understand and respond to behaviours of concern.

Encouraging community participation, hobbies, interests and meaningful relationships.

Working collaboratively with colleagues, families and professionals to achieve the best outcomes.

Helping people achieve personal goals and live the life they choose.

    What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who is:

Experienced in supporting people with learning disabilities, autism and behaviours of concern.

Knowledgeable and confident in Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) approaches.

    Calm, patient and emotionally resilient.

Able to build positive, trusting relationships.

Committed to delivering outstanding, person-centred support.

Passionate about improving the quality of life of the people they support.

A team player with excellent communication skills.

    What We Offer

Early Pay – access part of your earnings before payday.

    Fully paid enhanced DBS.

    Flexible working patterns.

    Paid annual leave (pro rata).

Award-winning training and ongoing professional development.

Opportunities to gain recognised Health and Social Care qualifications.

    Career progression opportunities across Avenues.

Contributory pension scheme with life assurance.

Blue Light Card and Benefits discounts on shopping, holidays and more.

Recommend a Friend scheme – earn up to £500.

24/7 health and wellbeing support, including confidential counselling.

    We Celebrate Diversity

We're proud to be an inclusive employer and welcome applications from people of all backgrounds.

As part of our commitment to the Disability Confident Scheme, applicants who declare a disability and meet the essential criteria will be guaranteed an interview.

If you're an experienced support worker who understands the importance of Positive Behaviour Support and wants to make a lasting difference to people's lives, we'd love to hear from you.
