How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Are you a hands-on Mechanical Engineer with workshop experience?
    Do you enjoy fault finding, repairing equipment and delivering high-quality workmanship?
    If so, we'd love to hear from you.

    An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Service Engineer to join a well-established engineering business at its workshop Near Chipping Norton. This is a varied, practical role where you'll be responsible for inspecting, repairing, testing and maintaining hydraulic equipment while supporting the wider service team.

    As a Workshop Service Engineer, you'll be involved in a wide range of engineering and workshop activities, ensuring equipment is repaired, tested and prepared to the highest standards.

    Key responsibilities include:
    . Stripping, inspecting, repairing and rebuilding hydraulic components and systems.
    . Carrying out workshop-based service and repair work.
    . Producing accurate inspection reports and repair documentation.
    . Cleaning, checking and preparing hire equipment, including filtration and testing equipment.
    . Repairing returned customer hydraulic components and systems.
    . Testing serviced and calibrated equipment in line with documented procedures.
    . Performing functional testing to ensure equipment meets quality standards.
    . Maintaining workshop organisation, tools, stock and test equipment.
    . Supporting the preparation and maintenance of workshop test kits.

    The ideal candidate will have a mechanical engineering background with hands-on workshop experience, strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills, the ability to produce clear and accurate reports and good communication skills with a positive, team-focused attitude.

    Desirable : Experience working with hydraulics, lubrication or fluid power systems, along with a background in service, maintenance or repair environments and hands-on experience with hydraulic components and associated equipment.
