How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Academic Teaching Staff - Health & Science Module Leader or Tutor

    Type: Fixed-term contract; part-time, hourly paid contract

    To achieve our goal of creating a modern and dynamic educational institution committed to providing high quality educational programmes and excellent student support in an environment that encourages students to achieve the best possible results in their studies, we are currently recruiting sessional academic staff.

    Thus, we invite applications from academics interested in being included in a pool of sessional lecturers and module leaders with the opportunity for hourly paid work on our Foundation, International Year One or Pre-Master’s programmes.

    Applications are accepted from academics with expertise in delivery of Health modules (Health and Policy, Career in Healthcare, Biology, Chemistry, Physics etc.) in FE or HE.

    Your Profile:

    Interested applicants will be able to demonstrate:

    Previous teaching experience in a related field 
    A University degree; Masters (-equivalent) or higher 
    Ability to communicate with staff and students from a diverse range of cultural and educational backgrounds 
    Excellent verbal and written English language communication skills 
    Good IT, general administration, data analysis and presentation skills 
    A “can do” mentality 
    A track record of being a successful educator
    Desirably, knowledge of the UK Higher Education system (and/or previous teaching experience at a UK FE or HE institution). About The Roles

    Sessional Tutor

    Deliver lectures 
    Facilitate seminars 
    Facilitate assessments
    Marking and feedback of a specific module group 
    Where appropriate work with Academic Demonstrator/ lab assistant to deliver a lab session 
    Monitor student attendance, engagement, and performance 
    Assist College Services and Academic Mentors with student support activities 
    Participate in some Quality Assurance activities: 
    Standardisation 
    Double/second marking 
    Moderation 
    Assist Module leader in their reporting duties Sessional Module Leader

    Ensure all module materials are up-to-date and support students in achieving the module learning outcomes 
    Ensure the module VLE is of high quality and complete 
    Where there are several module groups, ensure all Sessional Lecturers deliver the module consistently 
    Deliver lectures 
    Facilitate seminars 
    Create assessment briefs and the actual assessments in line with the module specification (this also includes re-assessments)
    Marking and feedback of specific module group 
    Where appropriate liaise with KU laboratory technicians to organise lab sessions and order required lab kit 
    Where appropriate work with Academic Demonstrator/ lab assistant to deliver a lab session 
    Assist College Services and Academic Mentors with student support activities 
    coordinate and participate in Quality Assurance activities of the module: 
    Standardisation 
    Double/ second marking 
    Moderation 
    Gather and assist college in response to student feedback 
    Assist the DLT  in their reporting duties 
    Monitor student attendance, engagement and performance at module level 
    Be accountable for module level student outcomes (e.g. retention, satisfaction, successful completion)

    What we offer

    At the discretion of the College Director and Principal we offer an hourly rate for contact classroom hours between £28 and £46 depending on level of qualification, teaching experience and additional module Leader responsibilities. In addition, meetings, other additional duties, and marking are paid separately.

    Holiday pay is NOT included in the above pay rates and will be calculated and paid based on all earnings at the end of a fixed term contract, at a rate of 12.07%.

    KUIC academic sessional staff will also have access to staff training, professional development sessions, and Learning and Teaching conferences.
