How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Are you passionate about supporting individuals experiencing homelessness? Do you want to make a real difference in your community? If so, a national homeless charity in Torfaen is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Support Worker to join their team!

    Hours: 09:00 – 17:00 (Monday – Friday)
Duration: Fixed term until May 2027

This is a leading homelessness charity committed to providing support and accommodation to individuals in need. Their mission is to end homelessness and ensure everyone has a safe place to call home. By joining their team, you will play a vital role in helping us achieve this vision.

Role and Responsibilities: As a Floating Support Worker, you will provide direct support to individuals facing homelessness, helping them access safe and stable housing. Your responsibilities will include:

Conducting assessments to understand clients' housing needs and develop personalised support plans.
Deliver a person centred support working across the community.
Assisting clients in finding suitable accommodation, completing housing applications, and navigating the rental market.
Building positive relationships with landlords and housing providers to secure housing options for clients.
Offering practical guidance and support in budgeting, tenancy management, and accessing housing-related benefits.
Collaborating with other agencies and stakeholders to ensure holistic support for clients. Requirements:

Previous experience in housing support or a related field.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with clients and stakeholders.
Knowledge of housing options, local resources, and relevant legislation.
Empathy, resilience, and a non-judgmental approach to support vulnerable individuals.
Hold a UK driving licence and have access to a car.
    Hold an enhanced DBS.
Strong organisational skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team. In return, you will receive a competitive salary reflecting the value of your skills and experience. Furthermore, delivering meaningful work, you will make a genuine difference in the lives of individuals experiencing homelessness.

If you are ready to take on a rewarding role where you can contribute to ending homelessness, we want to hear from you! For more information, contact Emily Savage at BRC today
