How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Strategic Account Manager
    Sawston, Cambridge

    About Us

Adkwik is a trusted leader in the manufacture and supply of high-performance adhesive solutions for the industrial, construction, and woodworking sectors across the UK and Ireland. With over 30 years of expertise, we help businesses overcome bonding challenges through tailored products and expert support. From glues and sealants to abrasives and tapes, our comprehensive range is backed by outstanding technical knowledge and customer service.

Our mission is to bring a problem-solving mindset to every client, delivering quality products, reliable service, and practical expertise every day, for everyone. We’re driven by core values of being trusted and loyal and getting stuff done, while we are also passionate about sustainable practices that reduce our environmental impact. As we continue to grow, our vision remains clear: to be the go-to provider in every industry we serve.

We are now looking for a Strategic Account Manager to join us on a full-time, permanent basis, working 40 hours per week, 8:30am – 5:00pm, Monday – Friday.

    What We Need From You

To be considered as a Strategic Account Manager, you’ll need to demonstrate that:

    - You’ve owned a portfolio of 200–300 accounts (or similar scale) and have segmented it effectively (using A/B/C, and/or tiering)
    - You've run a daily rhythm of outbound phone calls and tracked the “meaningful conversations”
    - You’ve led structured account reviews/QBRs with agendas, actions, and 90-day plans
    - You’re strong in CRM (HubSpot ideally): next steps, forecasting, clean data
    - You can evidence margin protection: held price, traded value for concessions, reduced discounting

    What The Role Entails

As a Strategic Account Manager, you will protect and profitably grow revenue across a substantial portfolio of 300 existing customers throughout the UK and Ireland.

In this high-impact commercial role, you will focus on two main areas: protecting current revenue and expanding it profitably.

You will achieve your aims by building strong relationships and ensuring we are a trusted partner who understands their operations and can solve real problems that help them achieve better outcomes.

Working in a structured, proactive style, you will undertake daily outbound contact, review account plans, map-out stakeholders. You’ll identify signs of churn in individual accounts and address them quickly to protect the relationship and revenue.

    You will also:

    - Develop and convert a strong expansion pipeline
    - Uncover opportunities across new products, applications, sites and processes
    - Working closely with Sales and Customer Service to deliver great customer experiences

    Your Rewards

In return, you'll discover a rewarding package designed to recognise your contribution and support your ongoing success.

    - Salary of up to £50,000 per annum, depending on experience + bonus 10-20% of salary
    - Discretionary company bonus scheme
    - 23 days’ annual leave plus Bank Holidays
    - Enhanced sick pay scheme
    - Potential for salary sacrifice schemes
    - Team days and conferences
    - Fully paid training across all fields
    - Free parking
    - Free snacks and drinks

This is a fantastic opportunity for an account manager with experience managing a large customer portfolio to join our ambitious and growing business.

You'll have the chance to take on and build an outstanding portfolio of high-value accounts, sharpening your expertise while establishing a proven track record of profitable growth that will set you apart in your career.

What’s more, you will discover an environment that recognises and rewards success, with a competitive bonus of up to 20% on top of your salary, delivering phenomenal earning potential.

To help us assess your application, please include the following in your CV or cover note:

    - Portfolio size + segmentation method
    - Average outbound activity per day/week
    - Example QBR cadence (monthly/quarterly)
    - CRM used + forecasting responsibility
    - One margin defence example (before/after)

Other organisations may call this role Key Account Manager, Customer Growth Manager, Account Development Manager, Retention & Expansion Manager, or Inside Sales Account Manager.
