How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Health & Safety Advisor

    Health & Safety Advisor – Civil Engineering & Construction

    We are seeking an experienced Health & Safety Advisor to join a growing civil engineering and construction business, supporting the safe delivery of a wide range of infrastructure projects. This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive Health & Safety Advisor looking to develop their career within a well-established contractor that places safety, quality, and continuous improvement at the heart of everything it does.

    As a Health & Safety Advisor, you will work closely with project teams to promote a positive safety culture, ensure compliance with health and safety legislation, and support the successful implementation of ISO 45001 management systems across multiple sites.

    The Role

    As a Health & Safety Advisor, your responsibilities will include:

    Providing day-to-day health and safety advice and guidance to site management teams.

    Promoting a proactive and positive health and safety culture across all projects.

    Ensuring compliance with UK Health & Safety legislation, CDM Regulations, company procedures, and client requirements.

    Carrying out regular site inspections and audits to monitor standards and identify improvements.

    Supporting supervisors with the completion of risk assessments, inspections, briefings, and other safety documentation.

    Delivering toolbox talks and health, safety and wellbeing briefings.

    Investigating accidents, incidents, and near misses, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.

    Reviewing RAMS, method statements, and other project documentation to ensure compliance.

    Supporting the implementation and ongoing management of the ISO 45001 Safety Management System.

    Attending and leading safety meetings where required.

    Producing reports and monitoring key health and safety performance indicators.

    Building strong working relationships with clients, subcontractors, and operational teams.

    Requirements

    To be considered for this Health & Safety Advisor position, you should have:

    Minimum 3 years' experience in a Health & Safety Advisor role within construction or civil engineering.

    Recognised Health & Safety qualification (NEBOSH or equivalent).

    Valid CSCS Card.

    Full UK driving licence.

    Strong written and verbal communication skills.

    Good IT skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.

    Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.

    Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.

    Desirable Skills

    Experience working on civil engineering or infrastructure projects.

    Membership of IOSH, IIRSM or another recognised professional body.

    Knowledge and experience of ISO 45001 management systems.

    Previous experience supporting large infrastructure or utilities projects.
