How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Senior Quantity Surveyor / Commercial Manager – Building Services (MEP)

    Leeds | £60,000–£90,000 + Company Car + Comprehensive Benefits Package

    An excellent opportunity has arisen to join the Yorkshire branch of a major national MEP contractor as a Senior Quantity Surveyor / Commercial Manager.

    With an enviable reputation for delivering complex mechanical and electrical building services projects across the UK, our client continues to invest heavily in its Yorkshire operation and has secured an impressive pipeline of work across commercial, healthcare, education, industrial and public sector developments.

    This role offers the opportunity to become a key member of the regional senior management team, taking responsibility for the commercial performance of multiple projects while helping to shape the continued growth of the Yorkshire business.

    Whether you’re an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor looking for the next step into a broader commercial leadership role, or already operating as a Commercial Manager, we’d be keen to hear from you.

    The Role

    Working closely with the Regional Director, Contracts Managers and Project Teams, you’ll oversee the commercial management of projects from award through to final account.

    Responsibilities will include:

    * Managing the commercial performance of multiple MEP projects across Yorkshire.

    * Preparing, reviewing and negotiating subcontract packages.

    * Valuations, applications for payment and cash flow management.

    * Cost reporting, forecasting and margin control.

    * Managing variations, compensation events and contractual change.

    * Negotiating final accounts with clients and subcontractors.

    * Identifying and managing commercial risk.

    * Supporting Project Managers with commercial advice throughout project delivery.

    * Mentoring and developing junior commercial staff within the regional team.

    * Working closely with operational management to maximise project profitability.

    About You

    You’ll ideally possess:

    * Experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor or Commercial Manager within the building services or MEP contracting sector.

    * Strong knowledge of standard forms of contract, including JCT and NEC.

    * A proven track record managing the commercial aspects of mechanical and electrical projects.

    * Excellent negotiation and communication skills.

    * Commercial awareness combined with a pragmatic approach to problem solving.

    * The ability to manage several projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail.

    * A stable employment history demonstrating progression and successful project delivery.

    Why This Opportunity?

    This is far more than a traditional Quantity Surveying role.

    You’ll be joining a business that has established itself as one of the UK’s leading MEP contractors, working alongside an experienced regional management team with genuine influence over the future direction of the Yorkshire business.

    The role offers significant autonomy, exposure to major projects and a clear route towards Regional Commercial Leadership for the right individual.

    In return, you’ll receive:

    * £60,000–£90,000 basic salary (depending on experience)

    * Company Car or Car Allowance

    * Pension

    * Private Healthcare

    * Annual Bonus (where applicable)

    * Excellent holiday entitlement

    * Long-term career progression within a financially secure national contractor

    If you’re looking for an opportunity where your commercial expertise will genuinely influence the success of a growing regional business, we’d like to hear from you
