How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

A Fantastic Opportunity: DSO Engagement and Operations Optimisation Engineer

As a DSO Engagement and Operations Optimisation Engineer, you'll play a critical role in ensuring our network operates efficiently while helping customers navigate the challenges and opportunities of energy transition.
This is a unique opportunity to combine power systems engineering, operational analysis and stakeholder engagement in a role that directly influences how the electricity network evolves to support low-carbon growth.

    The Role
As part of our Distribution System Operator (DSO) team, you'll provide operational and analytical engineering support to both customers and internal teams. You'll use network data, power system analysis and operational insights to support existing connections, optimise network performance and help resolve complex operational issues.
You'll work closely with customers, planners, network operators and industry stakeholders to ensure constraints and curtailment are managed effectively, while contributing to the development of future network and DSO solutions.

    What You'll Be Doing

In this role, you will be responsible for investigating and resolving customer issues related to flexible and non-firm connections, curtailment, and operational access, while analysing operational network data to identify risks, trends, and opportunities for improvement. You will provide technical expertise on Flexible Connections, flexibility services, and active distribution network operation, assessing network performance and determining when issues require escalation for planning, network reinforcement, or scheme modification. The role also involves supporting customers in delivering low-carbon generation, demand, and energy storage projects, as well as collaborating with DSO, Connections, and Strategic Planning teams to develop innovative network solutions that align with stakeholder energy plans. In addition, you will help enhance operational and flexibility data reporting, drive continuous improvement across DSO processes, and build strong relationships with customers, local authorities, utilities, and industry stakeholders to deliver excellent customer outcomes and support DSO incentive performance.

    What We're Looking For
    • Strong understanding of GB electricity distribution networks across all voltage levels.
    • Knowledge of electricity distribution regulations, standards and industry frameworks.
    • Degree in Electrical Engineering
    • Experience supporting customers through energy system transitions and delivering technical customer support in complex environments
    • Experience using power system analysis tools such as IPSA and DINIS.
    • Understanding of operational network data and Active Network Management systems.
    • Ability to work effectively across multiple teams and manage a diverse range of stakeholders.
    • Power Systems Engineering specialisation.
    • Proven relevant industrial experience.
    • Knowledge of low-carbon technologies, flexibility markets and local energy solutions.
    •

    You'll Succeed If You Are
    • Customer-focused and passionate about delivering positive outcomes.
    • An analytical thinker who can turn complex information into practical actions.
    • Comfortable influencing and building relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
    • Resilient, adaptable and able to thrive in a dynamic environment.
    • Driven to improve processes and deliver innovative solutions.

    What we’re offering

We value your expertise. In return, you’ll receive:

    • An annual bonus scheme
    • 25 days annual leave increasing with length of service
    • Private Healthcare
    • An employee rewards portal offering discounts on several well-known brands
    • A market-leading contributory pension scheme
    • Employee assistance programme
    • Opportunity for professional development through our L&D function.

    Our Commitment to Inclusion

We’re proud to foster a workplace where everyone can thrive. We celebrate diversity and are committed to building a team that reflects the communities we serve. We believe that embracing our differences makes us stronger
