How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Electrical Construction Manager

Camberley | Data Centre Refurbishment | Freelance

    £400 - £450 per day

This is a role for an Electrical Construction Manager who can drive site delivery on a live data centre refurbishment, plant upgrade and minor expansion project.

You will be working as part of a specialist delivery team, supporting the Senior Construction Manager and taking responsibility for day-to-day electrical works on site. The project involves the refurbishment of existing technical space, upgrades to plant and infrastructure, and smaller expansion works around a live data centre environment.

This is not a standard commercial fit-out role. You will be working around existing services, live infrastructure, access restrictions, phased works, shutdown requirements and a heavy commissioning interface. The role needs someone who can keep subcontractors moving, maintain quality, manage progress and make sure electrical works are delivered safely and properly coordinated.

    What you’ll be doing

Supporting the Senior Construction Manager with the day-to-day electrical delivery across a live data centre refurbishment and plant upgrade project.

Managing electrical subcontractors on site, making sure works are delivered safely, correctly and in line with programme.

Driving installation works across containment, LV distribution, cabling, switchgear, UPS interfaces, generator interfaces, lighting, emergency lighting, small power, earthing, bonding, fire alarm, security, BMS interfaces, structured cabling and associated critical infrastructure.

Coordinating electrical works around existing plant, live services, temporary supplies, shutdown windows, access restrictions, logistics constraints and other trades.

Working closely with Project Managers, Engineers, Supervisors, Design Managers, QA teams, commissioning teams, client representatives and specialist subcontractors.

Managing short-term lookaheads, labour planning, workface coordination, RAMS, permits, progress updates, inspections, snagging and close-out.

Making sure installation quality is maintained through QA checks, ITPs, inspection records, test sheets, redline drawings and handover documentation.

Helping identify site issues early, particularly where existing services, drawings or access constraints do not match the planned works.

Supporting the transition from installation into testing, commissioning and client handover.

Maintaining strong site standards around health and safety, housekeeping, coordination and subcontractor performance.

    What you’ll need

Previous experience as an Electrical Construction Manager, Electrical Site Manager, Electrical Supervisor, Electrical Package Manager or Electrical Project Engineer on technically demanding projects.

Strong electrical building services experience, ideally gained with an M&E contractor, electrical contractor, data centre specialist or main contractor technical services team.

Data centre experience would be ideal, but experience on live commercial, pharmaceutical, healthcare, life sciences, industrial, aviation or infrastructure projects would also be relevant.

A good understanding of electrical installation sequencing, containment routes, LV distribution, testing, commissioning, QA, handover and working around live or restricted-access environments.

Experience coordinating with mechanical, CSA, commissioning and controls teams, especially where electrical works interface with plant upgrades, service routes, fire strategy or shutdown works.

The ability to manage subcontractors, drive progress and keep control of multiple work areas at once.

Strong communication skills and the confidence to deal with engineers, supervisors, subcontractors, client teams and senior project leadership.

SMSTS, CSCS or ECS and First Aid would be expected.

    Why this role

This is a strong freelance opportunity on a live data centre project where the electrical works need proper site ownership.

You will be working in a technical environment with refurbishment, plant upgrades and minor expansion works all running around existing infrastructure. For someone with solid electrical delivery experience who wants more data centre exposure, this is a good project to be involved in.
