How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Science Technician - Secondary School | Hammersmith and Fulham | September 2026

    Are you passionate about science and looking for a rewarding role supporting practical learning? We are currently recruiting on behalf of a highly regarded secondary school in Hammersmith and Fulham who are looking to appoint a dedicated and enthusiastic Science Technician to join their department on a full-time basis from September 2026.

    The Opportunity

    Working as a Science Technician, you will play a key role in supporting the smooth running of the science department. You will assist teachers with practical lessons, prepare experiments, and ensure laboratories are fully equipped and compliant with safety standards.

    Key Duties and Responsibilities

    Set up practical equipment and resources for lessons.

    Assist teachers with demonstrations and experiments.

    Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure resources are available.

    Monitor and replenish stock supplies.

    Support safe working practices within laboratories.

    Ensure compliance with relevant health and safety procedures.

    Work closely with science staff to enhance practical learning opportunities.

    Requirements

    Experience within a laboratory, school, or similar technical environment is preferred.

    Understanding of science equipment and safe working practices.

    Excellent organisational and communication skills.

    Ability to prioritise tasks and manage workload effectively.

    A positive attitude and willingness to support students and staff.

    Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.

    Right to work in the UK.
