How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Business Development Executive Location: Northern England & Scotland (M62 Corridor, North East, North West and Central Belt of Scotland) Salary: £40,000 + OTE £50,000 - £55,000

Consortium Professional Recruitment are delighted to be working with our client to recruit a Business Development Executive to help drive continued growth across Northern England and Scotland.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a commercially driven sales professional who enjoys getting out in front of customers, developing long-term relationships and creating opportunities for growth. Rather than simply chasing sales, you'll become a trusted partner to your customers, helping them find the right solutions while growing both existing accounts and new business.

We're particularly interested in speaking with candidates from the panelling, decorative surfaces, timber, joinery, fit-out, interiors, flooring, kitchens, bathrooms, building products or similar industries.

If you understand the value of great customer relationships and enjoy making things happen commercially, we'd love to hear from you.

    The Opportunity
As a Business Development Executive, you'll have the freedom to manage your own territory while developing strong relationships with both existing and prospective customers.

    Your role will include:

Growing an established portfolio of customer accounts whilst identifying opportunities to increase spend and strengthen relationships.
Winning new business by developing relationships with merchants, distributors, contractors, installers and interior specialists.
Becoming the first point of contact for customers, understanding their requirements and recommending the right product solutions.
Identifying new market opportunities and developing plans to increase market share across your region.
Delivering product demonstrations and supporting customers with technical advice when required.
Working closely with internal teams to ensure customers receive an excellent experience from enquiry through to delivery.
Managing your sales pipeline and customer activity to ensure every opportunity is maximised. This is a role where your personality, commercial mindset and relationship-building skills will be just as important as your sales experience.

    About You
We're looking for someone who enjoys developing relationships just as much as delivering results.

    You'll ideally have:

Experience in field sales, account management or business development.
A background within panelling, decorative products, timber, interiors, building products or a similar sector.
A genuine passion for building customer relationships and developing long-term partnerships.
The confidence to identify and win new business whilst nurturing existing accounts.
A proactive, self-motivated approach with the drive to exceed targets.
    Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
Strong commercial awareness and the ability to spot opportunities others might miss.
The ability to work independently whilst collaborating with colleagues across the business. Whether you've built your career selling wall panelling, decorative boards, timber products, interior finishes or similar solutions, you'll understand how important service, trust and long-term relationships are to success.

The Benefits and Package In return, you'll enjoy:

Salary of £40,000 with OTE of £50,000-£55,000.
A growing business with ambitious plans.
A well-established customer base to develop alongside opportunities to win new business.
Autonomy to manage your own territory.
    Ongoing support and professional development.
A collaborative, inclusive culture where success is recognised and rewarded. How to Apply

This exciting Business Development Executive opportunity is being managed by Consortium Professional Recruitment, a trusted recruitment partner. If you're looking for a role where you can combine account management, relationship building and new business development within the panelling, interiors or building products sector, we'd love to hear from you. Please apply with your CV attached.
