How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Application Engineer (Java/Python | Wealth Management)

    Location: London Centre 1 day a week
    Salary: £90,000 + 10 percent Bonus + Outstanding Benefits

    Our client, a highly respected UK wealth management organisation, is looking for a talented Application Engineer with strong Java and/or Python development experience to join its technology team.

    This role is ideal for someone who enjoys delivering scalable business-critical applications, working closely with stakeholders and leveraging technology to enhance adviser and client experiences within a wealth management environment.

    The Role

    You'll play a key role in designing, building and enhancing applications and integrations that support the firm's investment and wealth management services. Working in an Agile environment, you'll collaborate with analysts, engineers and product teams to deliver robust solutions that drive business value.

    Key Responsibilities

    Develop, enhance and support applications using Java and/or Python
    Design and implement integrations across core business platforms
    Translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions
    Support application deployments and production releases
    Work closely with business stakeholders to identify improvement opportunities
    Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues
    Collaborate with data engineering and product teams on strategic initiatives
    Participate in Agile ceremonies and continuous improvement activitiesWhat We're Looking For

    Strong commercial experience with Java and/or Python development
    Experience developing enterprise applications and integrations
    Background working within wealth management, investment management, private banking or financial services
    Understanding of software engineering best practices and Agile methodologies
    Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
    Strong communication skills and stakeholder management experienceHighly Desirable

    Exposure to IRESS Xplan, Xmerge or adviser platforms
    Experience with Snowflake, Power BI or Alteryx
    Knowledge of wealth management operating models and advice processes
    JavaScript development experience
