How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Civil Supervisor

    Are you an experienced Civil Supervisor looking to join a well-established civil engineering contractor delivering projects across the North East of Scotland?

    We are seeking a motivated and proactive Civil Supervisor to lead site teams on a variety of civil engineering, multi-utility and infrastructure projects. This is an excellent opportunity for a Civil Supervisor who enjoys leading from the front, maintaining high standards of safety and quality, and ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget. The successful Civil Supervisor will play a key role in supporting site operations while mentoring teams and driving project success.

    The Role

    As a Civil Supervisor, you will oversee the day-to-day activities of site operatives, ensuring works are completed safely, efficiently and in accordance with project specifications, company procedures and client requirements. You will work closely with Site Managers, Engineers and Commercial teams to ensure the successful delivery of projects.

    Key Responsibilities

    Supervise and coordinate daily activities of civil engineering site teams.

    Organise daily workloads and allocate tasks to operatives.

    Read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.

    Ensure works are completed in line with programme requirements.

    Monitor progress and provide regular updates to Site Management.

    Prepare and issue daily work instructions and site briefings.

    Complete Daily Point of Work Risk Assessments and briefing records.

    Maintain accurate records of labour, plant and daily site activities.

    Ensure all paperwork is completed accurately and submitted on time.

    Promote excellent housekeeping across sites, compounds and company vehicles.

    Ensure plant, tools and equipment are used safely and maintained correctly.

    Monitor workmanship and ensure quality standards are achieved.

    Assist with site measurements when required.

    Promote and enforce Health, Safety and Environmental compliance.

    Support the training and development of junior operatives.

    Requirements

    Previous experience as a Civil Supervisor, General Foreman or similar supervisory role within civil engineering.

    Strong background delivering civil engineering or infrastructure projects.

    Valid CSCS Card.

    Excellent leadership and communication skills.

    Ability to organise teams and manage programme deadlines.

    Strong understanding of Health & Safety legislation and safe systems of work.

    Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

    Full UK Driving Licence.

    Right to work in the UK.

    Desirable

    SSSTS or SMSTS.

    Street Works (NRSWA).

    CPCS Dumper and Roller.

    EUSR Card.

    Experience working on utilities, infrastructure or highways projects.
