How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

We are seeking an experienced Wastewater Pump Engineer to support our continued growth across the Northern region. The successful candidate will join a skilled engineering team delivering installation, maintenance, and repair services across sewage and clean water pumping equipment.

This role involves primarily field-based work across sewage pumping stations and treatment plants, as well as a variety of other water-related systems. The position requires a practical engineer comfortable working outdoors and in varied site conditions.

    ROLE REQUIREMENTS & WORKING CONDITIONS

    * Candidate should possess a strong electrical skillset and knowledge. Future training opportunities may be available as the electrical department expands, leading to increased installation work alongside core service activities.

    * Work is primarily carried out at Sewage Pump Stations and Sewage Treatment Plants, meaning work is mainly outdoors and environments can be dirty. Additional works range from cold water booster sets to specialist systems such as zoo pond pumps.

    * Role is remotely based with home working; however, engineers will be allocated to the York depot and will be required to attend regularly for parts collection, returns, and in-house training. Travel to the depot will be kept to a minimum where possible.

    * Work allocation will be kept within the Northern region where possible; however, the company operates nationally and occasional travel outside the region may be required.

    * Work will involve a mixture of lone working and paired working, depending on job requirements.

    EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

    * Minimum 5 years' experience working with wastewater or pumping systems.

    * Electrically qualified with strong electrical fault-finding capability.

    * Mechanical bias with practical experience in pump removal, installation, and associated mechanical works.

    * Experience working on sewage pumping stations or treatment plants is highly desirable.

    * Full UK driving licence.
