How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Salary: £40,000 - £50,000 + £4,500 Car Allowance + Private Healthcare + Pension + 25 Days Leave (plus BH)

I'm recruiting for a Quantity Surveyor to join an established infrastructure contractor delivering reactive maintenance and developer services works for Thames Water. The role can be based from either Esher or Kentish Town and would suit someone who enjoys working in a fast-moving environment where no two days are quite the same. You'll be looking after the commercial management of a high volume of smaller-value works, working closely with the operational team to keep projects moving and ensure costs are well controlled.

Whether you're already working within the water sector or have a background in civil engineering, highways or groundworks, this is a great opportunity to join a business with a healthy pipeline of secured work and clear opportunities to quickly develop your career.

As the Quantity Surveyor, you'll be responsible for the commercial management of a busy reactive maintenance contract, supporting projects from initial pricing through to final account.

    Your responsibilities will include:

    Measuring and pricing works.
    Managing subcontractor accounts.
Producing cost reports and forecasting project performance.
    Supporting applications for payment.
Identifying opportunities to improve commercial performance.
Monitoring costs and helping to maximise contract profitability.
Working alongside operational teams to resolve commercial issues as they arise.
You'll need to have experience in a Quantity Surveying role within utilities, infrastructure, civil engineering or groundworks with further experience in the following areas:

Experience pricing groundworks or civil engineering works.
Knowledge of subcontract procurement and account management.
Experience producing cost reports and forecasts.
    Good Excel skills.
The ability to manage several live workstreams at once.
Strong communication skills and a practical approach to problem solving.
    Salary & Benefits

    £40,000 - £50,000 starting salary
    £4,500 car allowance
25 days annual leave plus bank holidays

    Contributory pension
    Annual bonus
    Life assurance
    Health Cash Plan
    24/7 Online GP
    Retail discount scheme
    Cycle to Work scheme
    Enhanced family leave
    Ongoing training and career development
If you're looking for a Quantity Surveyor role in Surrey or North London and have experience within civil engineering, utilities or groundworks, get in touch for a confidential discussion.
