About the Role
Matchtech are working closely with an innovative organisation within the defence and security sector, who are seeking a Simulation Systems Engineer to join a highly skilled Hardware-in-the-Loop (HWIL) team. This role offers the opportunity to work on advanced simulation technologies in a collaborative and supportive environment, contributing to cutting-edge engineering solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain and optimise simulation environments, ensuring systems and control equipment remain operational and fit for purpose
Support the upkeep of multi-axis hydraulic motion simulators and antenna positioning systems
Carry out both planned preventative maintenance and reactive fault resolution
Perform hands-on engineering tasks in a practical, workshop-based environment
Interpret complex systems, applying engineering judgement to troubleshoot and improve performance
Work flexibly across a range of technical challenges, developing broad, transferable skills
Contribute ideas and improvements to enhance team performance and operational efficiency
Skills & Experience
Knowledge of hydraulic systems
Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical engineering drawings
Experience with CAD tools (CREO desirable)
Practical workshop experience using hand and powered tools
Strong coordination and manual dexterity for hands-on technical work
Comfortable working at height when required
Understanding of control systems theory
Confident using IT systems, including Management Information Systems (MIS)
Able to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team
Qualifications
Degree (2:1 or above preferred) in one of the following:
Mechanical Engineering
Mechatronics / Robotics
Aeronautical Engineering
Electronic Engineering
(Equivalent experience will also be considered)
