How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    The Role

    As a Secondary Supply Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering engaging and effective lessons while ensuring continuity of learning during staff absences. Depending on the assignment, responsibilities may include:

    Delivering pre-planned lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, with Key Stage 5 opportunities available in some schools.
    Adapting teaching methods to meet the needs of students with varying abilities and learning styles.
    Creating a positive, inclusive and engaging classroom environment where students feel supported and motivated.
    Managing classroom behaviour in line with each school's policies and expectations.
    Encouraging student participation, progress and achievement throughout each lesson.
    Providing feedback to the class teacher or department following the completion of lessons.
    Building positive relationships with students, teaching staff and senior leadership teams.Long-term positions may also involve planning lessons, marking work, attending departmental meetings and participating in wider school activities.

    We Are Looking For

    Successful candidates will have:

    Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), QTLS or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
    Recent experience teaching within UK secondary schools.
    Excellent classroom and behaviour management skills.
    Strong communication and organisational abilities.
    A flexible, adaptable and professional approach to teaching.
    A genuine passion for education and supporting young people to achieve their full potential.
    An Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one.
    Satisfactory references covering recent employment history.
