How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    We're working with a number of secondary schools across Blackpool and the Fylde Coast who are regularly need of motivated and reliable Unqualified Teachers, also known as Cover Supervisors to work on day to day, short and long term bookings.

    Locations of work include; Fleetwood, Thornton, Poulton, Bispham, Blackpool, Lytham, Kirkham.

    This is an excellent opportunity for graduates, aspiring teachers, or individuals with experience working with young people who are looking to build a career in education.

    What is a Cover Supervisor?
    As a Cover Supervisor, you will step into the classroom in the absence of the regular teacher, supervising students aged 11-16 and delivering pre-set lessons across a range of subjects. You won't be expected to plan lessons, but you will play a vital role in keeping students engaged, on task, and working in a structured learning environment.

    This role offers invaluable classroom experience, helping you build confidence in behaviour management and develop a strong understanding of school life-making it an ideal stepping stone into teacher training such as a PGCE.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Delivering pre-set work and ensuring students remain focused and engaged
    Managing classroom behaviour in line with school policies
    Creating a positive and productive learning environment
    Responding to student questions and providing basic support where needed
    Reporting back to teaching staff on lesson progress and any issues
