How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

This is a senior and influential opportunity to help shape, develop and deliver occupational health and wellbeing services across one of the UK’s most significant infrastructure programmes.

The successful candidate will provide specialist advice across the business, lead occupational health assurance activity and work closely with senior stakeholders, delivery teams and supply-chain partners to improve health outcomes and support the continued development of HS2’s Occupational Health and Wellbeing strategy.

    Key responsibilities

    * Support the development and implementation of the Occupational Health and Wellbeing strategy.

    * Manage and monitor Occupational Health and Wellbeing service providers.

    * Lead occupational health assurance activity across the supply chain.

    * Undertake contractor prequalification and tender evaluations.

    * Collect, analyse and report occupational health data to identify trends and improve performance.

    * Develop occupational health standards, policies and improvement initiatives.

    * Evaluate the effectiveness of services, interventions and wellbeing programmes.

    * Provide expert advice to senior stakeholders, HR, Health and Safety teams, engineering functions and joint-venture health leads.

    * Promote early intervention, prevention and improved health outcomes across the organisation and wider programme.

    Essential requirements

    * Registered General Nurse with a recognised Occupational Health qualification at degree or master’s level, or a BSc in Community Nursing Occupational Health with specialist practitioner status recorded by the NMC.

    * Experience managing Occupational Health and Wellbeing services within a major project, programme or similarly complex organisation.

    * Strong experience implementing occupational health and wellbeing strategy.

    * Experience undertaking assurance of third-party providers and supply-chain organisations.

    * Strong project-management, analytical and data-reporting skills.

    * Excellent influencing, negotiation and stakeholder-engagement capability.

    * Up-to-date knowledge of occupational health legislation, regulatory requirements and best practice.

    * Ability to operate confidently as a senior subject-matter expert.

    The opportunity

This role offers the chance to make a meaningful contribution to the health and wellbeing of employees and supply-chain partners across a nationally important infrastructure programme.

You will work in a visible role with significant autonomy, helping to improve standards, strengthen assurance and ensure occupational health is treated with the same focus and importance as safety.

For a confidential discussion, please apply or contact Paul Armstrong.
