How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    The Company
Our client is a respected engineering manufacturer with a reputation for producing high-quality machined components for customers operating in technically demanding sectors. As the business continues to expand, they are looking to strengthen their workshop team by recruiting an experienced Machine Shop Technician.

This position would suit someone who enjoys a varied machining role and is looking to take on more responsibility over time. In addition to producing quality components, you'll be encouraged to contribute ideas that improve manufacturing efficiency, support new ways of working, and help shape the future direction of the workshop.

For the right individual, there are genuine opportunities to progress into a leadership position as the department develops.

    The Role
Working within a busy machine shop, you'll be involved in the manufacture of precision components from prototype work through to small production batches. You'll work with a variety of CNC and conventional machine tools while ensuring work is completed safely, accurately and to the highest quality standards.

    Typical duties will include:

    * Setting up and operating CNC and manual machine tools.

    * Producing precision components from engineering drawings and technical specifications.

    * Selecting suitable tooling and work-holding methods for a range of machining operations.

    * Manufacturing low-volume and bespoke components to tight tolerances.

    * Inspecting finished work using a range of measuring equipment to ensure dimensional accuracy.

    * Monitoring machine performance and carrying out routine maintenance checks.

    * Working alongside engineering and production teams to overcome manufacturing challenges.

    * Identifying opportunities to improve machining methods, workflow and productivity.

    * Assisting with the introduction of new manufacturing techniques and improved workshop practices.

    * Maintaining a safe, organised and efficient working environment.

    Skills & Experience

Previous experience working within a CNC machining environment.

Confidence reading and working from engineering drawings.

A solid understanding of machining principles, tooling selection and manufacturing processes.

Strong attention to detail and pride in producing high-quality work.

A practical approach to fault finding and continuous improvement.

The ability to work independently while also contributing as part of a wider team.

A proactive attitude with a willingness to develop new skills.

    The Package

    £27,000- £32,000

    Competitive salary based on experience.

Permanent, full-time position with an early finish on Fridays.

Long-term career development within an expanding engineering business.

Ongoing training and opportunities to broaden your technical skills.

A varied role working across both CNC and conventional machining.

The chance to contribute to process improvements and future workshop development.

Supportive working environment with investment in people, equipment and manufacturing capability
