How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Associate Building Regulations Principal Designer

A successful multidisciplinary architectural practice is looking to appoint an experienced Building Regulations Principal Designer to lead and grow its Manchester building safety offering.

The practice already has a strong technical team and an established workload across residential, healthcare, refurbishment and remediation projects. It is now seeking a specialist who can take ownership of the Principal Designer function and develop it into a standalone service.

This position would suit an ambitious Principal Designer, Associate or Associate Director looking for greater autonomy and the opportunity to build a team.

The Associate Building Regulations Principal Designer's Role

The Associate Building Regulations Principal Designer will provide technical leadership across the practice while managing a portfolio of complex and higher-risk building projects.

You will be responsible for developing compliance strategies, advising clients and coordinating design information through the relevant regulatory gateways.

    The role will include:

Acting as Building Regulations Principal Designer
Leading compliance on higher-risk building projects
Advising clients on Building Safety Act responsibilities
Leading Gateway applications and regulatory submissions
    Coordinating golden thread information
    Reviewing multidisciplinary design information
    Identifying and managing compliance risks
Developing internal procedures, templates and reporting tools
Supporting bids, frameworks and client presentations
    Mentoring architects and technical professionals
Helping secure external Principal Designer appointments
Supporting the future growth of a specialist team

The Associate Building Regulations Principal Designer

The successful Associate Building Regulations Principal Designer will have:

    Demonstrable higher-risk building experience
A detailed understanding of the Building Safety Act
Experience delivering Building Regulations Principal Designer duties
A background in architecture, building control, surveying or design compliance
    Strong technical and client-facing skills
Experience supporting or leading junior colleagues
An interest in business development and service growth

    In Return?

    £65,000 - £75,000
    Annual profit-related bonus
    25 days' annual leave
    Christmas office closure
Hybrid working, typically two or three days in the studio
    Employee health and wellbeing programme
    Optical and physiotherapy benefits
    Mental health and GP support
Opportunity to recruit and develop a specialist team
Clear progression into a senior leadership position
    Salary description

    £65000.00 - £75000.00 per year
