How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    This is a fantastic opportunity for senior level mechanical engineers to join a world leader in advanced manufacturing technology. This is a global engineering powerhouse with decades of experience, and you’ll have the chance to work at a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility alongside a team of specialists within R&D. you will play a key role within the R&D function, designing and developing next-generation products used across a wide range of industrial applications.  

    Role Overview
    You'll be responsible for the mechanical and opto-mechanical design and development of new products from concept through to manufacture, working closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams to deliver innovative solutions for a complex product portfolio. This is a highly visible role within the Product Development team, offering involvement across the full product lifecycle and significant influence on the successful introduction of new technology.

    Key responsibilities will include:

    Design and development of mechanical/opto-mechanical components through to manufacture
    Detailed design drawings and procurement specifications and finite element modelling of mechanical and thermal performance
    Liaise with suppliers to support product design, specifications and product complianceThe successful candidate will have 5+ years’ experience supporting complex engineered products throughout their lifecycle, within a related or similar high-tech industry.  All candidates should also bring a degree/technical qualification in mechanical engineering or a related engineering discipline.

    Essential experience:

    3D CAD software package (ideally Solidworks) and MS Office
    Design for assembly, manufacture, service and reliability
    Design for thermal management (a/c or w/c heatsinks, ideally experience with CAB/Vacuum brazing) Preferable experience:

    Experience in electro-mechanical design including integration of PCBs, connectors and cabling
    Mechanical system design, including FEA, CFD and ingress protection.
    Previous experience with fibre optics or lasers would be highly beneficial
