How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    • Advise customers on suitable machinery and equipment for engineering labs, workshops, and training environments
    • Identify new business opportunities and support the development of customer relationships
    • Deliver product demonstrations both in person and remotely via phone, Teams, and email
    • Prepare and deliver product training to customers and distributors
    • Assist with technical product content, demonstration materials, user guides, and supporting documentation
    • Work closely with the internal sales team to help convert technical enquiries into successful orders
    • Supplied with leads to follow up with, and expected to generate own leads
    • Support product development activity where required, including software testing and product evaluations

    Technical Sales Engineer Requirements
    • Experience in technical sales, sales engineering, or technical sales support within an engineering, manufacturing, industrial equipment, or machinery-based environment
    • Strong technical understanding of engineering equipment, ideally including CNC machinery, CAD/CAM systems, machine tools, or similar manufacturing technologies
    • Ability to explain technical products clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
    • Confident communication and presentation skills
    • Comfortable speaking with customers by phone, Teams, email, and face-to-face when required
    • Strong commercial awareness, with the ability to identify opportunities and support sales growth
    • Proactive, self-motivated, and able to create momentum without heavy structure or close supervision
    • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple customer enquiries and sales opportunities
    • Willingness to undertake occasional UK and international travel when required
    • Experience with CNC machinery, CAD/CAM systems, technical sales into education, or industrial equipment would be advantageous

    • Full-time, 36.5 hours per week

    • Primarily office-based role
