How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Project Quantity Surveyor – Main Contractor (Mixed-Use) – Islington
    Salary/Package: £65,000 – £75,000 + Travel/Car Allowance + Private Medical + Pension + Discretionary Bonus + Annual Leave

    O’Neill and Brennan are currently working with a leading main contractor who are looking to appoint an experienced Project Quantity Surveyor to join their established commercial team, working on a £30m mixed-use development in Islington.

    This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-respected contractor with a strong pipeline of secured work across London. The successful candidate will work as the No.2 Surveyor on the project, supporting the Senior Quantity Surveyor with the commercial delivery of the scheme while taking ownership of key subcontract packages from procurement through to final account.

    You will be joining an experienced and supportive commercial team with excellent opportunities for long-term progression within a growing and successful main contractor.

    Role Overview

    Salary: £65,000 – £75,000 + Package
    Start: ASAP but can wait for the right person

    Responsibilities

    Supporting the Senior Quantity Surveyor in the commercial delivery of a £30m residential project
    Procuring and commercially managing high-value subcontract packages from procurement through to final account
    Preparing subcontract enquiries, tender analysis, negotiations and recommendations for award
    Managing subcontractor valuations, payments, variations and final accounts
    Assisting with cost reporting, CVRs, forecasting and monthly commercial reporting
    Working closely with site management, design and procurement teams to ensure successful project delivery
    Identifying commercial risks and opportunities whilst maintaining strong cost control throughout the project lifecycle
    Building and maintaining positive relationships with clients, consultants and the supply chain

    Requirements

    Experience working as a Quantity Surveyor or Project Quantity Surveyor within a main contracting environment
    Previous experience delivering residential projects for a main contractor
    Experience procuring and commercially managing subcontract packages through to final account
    Strong commercial awareness with excellent negotiation and communication skills
    Keen to progress within a leading main contractor and develop into a Senior Quantity Surveyor
    Able and willing to commute to Islington
