Stonetech Recruitment are working with a growing engineering manufacturer in Bury St Edmunds to recruit an experienced Quality Technician.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established business where quality is at the heart of its operations. Reporting to the Quality Control Manager, you'll be responsible for ensuring products meet the highest standards through inspection, testing and continuous improvement initiatives.
The Role
As a Quality Technician, your responsibilities will include:

Inspecting incoming, in-process and returned components to ensure they meet specification.
*
Carrying out dimensional inspections using metrology equipment including verniers, micrometers and height gauges.
*
Reading and interpreting engineering drawings, material certificates and technical documentation.
*
Completing First Article Inspections (FAI) and producing detailed inspection reports.
*
Maintaining full traceability of quality documentation and certification records.
*
Ensuring inspection and measuring equipment is calibrated and compliant.
*
Supporting customer audits, supplier visits and certification body assessments.
*
Assisting with continuous improvement activities to enhance quality systems and manufacturing processes.
*
Maintaining high housekeeping standards and promoting 5S within the department.
About You
We're looking for someone who has:
*
At least 2 years' experience in a Quality Technician, Quality Inspector or similar engineering quality role.
*
Experience using precision measuring equipment.
*
The ability to confidently read and interpret engineering drawings.
*
Excellent attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
*
A proactive approach with the ability to work independently and within a team.
*
An engineering apprenticeship or relevant engineering qualification (preferred).
Desirable Experience
*
Experience with advanced inspection equipment such as Faro Arm or CMM.
*
Knowledge of ISO 9001 quality systems and internal auditing.
*
Background within machining, precision engineering, castings or valve manufacturing.
*
Experience using quality tools such as 5 Why and 8D.
*
Familiarity with MRP/ERP systems.
*
Knowledge of NDT, PMI or hardness testing.
