How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job Title:  Pastoral Lead - EVC and Careers
    Location:  Bradford Beacon School, Rooley Lane, Bradford, BD5 8LJ
    Hours:      40 hours per week | Monday - Friday | 8.30am - 4.30pm
    Salary:      £30,000 per annum (not pro rata) 
    Contract:  Permanent | Term Time Only
    Start:        September 2026

    About the Role

    This is an exciting opportunity to join Bradford Beacon School, a brand-new specialist school, and play a pivotal role in creating a nurturing, inclusive environment where every pupil feels safe, valued and ready to succeed.

    We're looking for an exceptional Pastoral Lead who is passionate about supporting children and young people with additional needs. You'll lead our pastoral provision, champion pupil wellbeing, and work collaboratively with our multidisciplinary team to help every learner overcome barriers, develop resilience and achieve their full potential.

    As one of our founding team members, you'll help shape the culture and ethos of our new school, ensuring positive relationships, high expectations and outstanding pastoral care are at the heart of everything we do.

    What You'll Be Doing

    Lead and develop the school's pastoral provision, promoting a culture of wellbeing, inclusion and positive behaviour.

    Support pupils with SEND and complex needs to engage successfully in learning and school life.

    Provide guidance and support to staff, ensuring the consistent implementation of Positive Support Plans (PSPs), risk assessments and behaviour strategies.

    Respond proactively to behavioural incidents, leading debriefs, analysing trends and implementing early intervention strategies.

    Build positive relationships with pupils, families, social workers and external agencies to ensure joined-up support.

    Monitor behaviour, wellbeing and pastoral data, producing reports that inform whole-school improvement.

    Support pupils during times of crisis, helping them develop emotional regulation, resilience and independence.

    Work closely with the Senior Leadership Team to create a safe, nurturing and inclusive school environment where every pupil can thrive.

    Who We're Looking For

    We're looking for someone who:

    Has experience working with children and young people with Autism, SEND or complex needs.

    Has experience leading pastoral provision or delivering successful pastoral and wellbeing interventions.

    Understands positive behaviour support and therapeutic approaches to helping pupils succeed.

    Is confident working collaboratively with families, colleagues and external agencies.

    Can remain calm, resilient and solution-focused in challenging situations.

    Has excellent communication, organisational and leadership skills.

    Holds GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent)

    Is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

    Bradford Beacon School, opened in September 2025, is a brand-new specialist independent school for children aged 4–11 with autism and associated complex needs. Set in a purpose-built, thoughtfully refurbished environment, the school provides a safe, nurturing, and inclusive setting where every child feels valued.
