How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Location; Hinckley

We are working with a specialist technical manufacturing business supplying industrial films, flexible packaging and precision-engineered components to manufacturing, packaging and industrial customers across the UK. The business operates within an ISO 9001 environment, with a strong focus on technical problem-solving, customer relationships and profitable growth.

This is a great opportunity for a Sales Engineer who is looking to combine technical credibility with a genuine new-business focus. You'll inherit a warm client base and inbound leads to develop, alongside the freedom to bring on new accounts, translating customer technical requirements into profitable manufactured solutions.

This role would suit a commercially driven Sales Engineer or technically minded salesperson who enjoys solving customer problems, building long-term relationships and working closely with Production, Quality, Planning and Commercial colleagues in a fast-moving SME manufacturing environment. You'll be backed by two dedicated Sales Administrators who help drive sales internally, plus a commission structure and new business incentive geared around your success.

    Responsibilities of a Sales Engineer:

Develop new business opportunities with OEMs, manufacturers, distributors, converters and technical buyers within target industrial sectors

Manage and grow existing customer accounts through regular contact, site visits and proactive account planning

Interpret customer drawings, samples and technical specifications, liaising with Production, Quality and Planning to develop suitable manufacturing solutions

Prepare accurate quotations, proposals and cost/margin assessments

Maintain CRM discipline, accurate pipeline reporting and structured follow-up

Represent the business professionally at customer meetings, trade events and industry networking opportunities

Provide regular sales updates, pipeline commentary and forecasts to management

Skills & Qualifications of a Sales Engineer:

Proven experience in technical B2B sales, sales engineering, account management or business development within manufacturing or industrial markets

Strong technical aptitude, with the ability to interpret drawings, specifications and engineered material applications

Commercial awareness, including pricing, negotiation, margin protection and customer value creation

Confident communicator, comfortable engaging engineers, buyers, production teams and senior decision-makers

Full UK driving licence, with strong CRM/ERP discipline and Excel skills for pricing and reporting (CAD, Power BI or LinkedIn Sales Navigator experience advantageous)

    Benefits of a Sales Engineer:

Basic salary of £35,000 plus commission, with a realistic OTE of £45,000

Warm client base with inbound leads, alongside genuine new business development opportunities

Support from two dedicated Sales Administrators to help drive sales internally

Team-based commission structure, plus a dedicated new business incentive

Career development opportunity within a specialist technical manufacturing group

Varied customer base across industrial, packaging and engineered-material applications

Supportive, collaborative culture working closely with Production, Quality and Commercial teams
