How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Site Manager

    Main Contractor

    Location: Chertsey

    Day Rate: £300 - £325 / day

    Start: 20/07/2026

    The Opportunity

    An established and growing main contractor is seeking an experienced Site Manager to oversee the successful delivery of external and civil works on a live school site in Chertsey.

    Working within an operational educational environment, you will be responsible for managing all on-site activities, ensuring works are delivered safely, on programme, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. The project includes a range of external refurbishment and civil engineering works, requiring careful planning and coordination to minimise disruption to the school's daily operations.

    Key Responsibilities

    Manage the day-to-day running of external and civil works from commencement through to completion.
    Lead site teams and coordinate subcontractors to ensure works are delivered safely, efficiently, and in accordance with the programme.
    Manage works within a live school environment, maintaining strict health, safety, and safeguarding standards at all times.
    Oversee external works including hard landscaping, paving, drainage, kerbing, fencing, surfacing, roadways, footpaths, and associated infrastructure.
    Coordinate plant, materials, deliveries, and site logistics within a constrained operational environment.
    Monitor progress against programme and proactively resolve any issues affecting delivery.
    Maintain high standards of workmanship and quality throughout the project.
    Ensure compliance with current health and safety legislation, company procedures, and project-specific requirements.
    Liaise with the client, school representatives, consultants, subcontractors, and other stakeholders to ensure effective communication throughout the project.
    Carry out site inspections, quality checks, snagging, and oversee successful project handover.
    Maintain accurate site records, permits, RAMS, and project documentation.
    Experience

    Previous experience working as a Site Manager for a main contractor.
    Proven track record delivering external works, groundworks, and civil engineering projects.
    Experience working within live educational, public sector, or occupied environments is highly desirable.
    Strong understanding of drainage, hard landscaping, surfacing, utilities, and associated civil works.
    Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
    Ability to manage subcontractors, programmes, and multiple stakeholders effectively.
    Strong knowledge of current health and safety legislation and industry best practice.
