How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    About the Role

    You will support a team of ten fee earners across a broad spectrum of civil litigation work, from first instruction through to final outcome. This is a part-time role of 16–20 hours per week, with core hours of 9:30am to 1pm across four to five mornings. Occasional travel between offices may be required.

    Litigation Assistant Responsibilities

    * Supporting fee earners with high-quality client service and efficient case management

    * Opening and closing files, managing documents and collating bundles

    * Assisting with client onboarding, engagement letters and risk and compliance tasks

    * Monitoring court timetables, scheduling hearings and mediations, and coordinating with barristers and expert witnesses

    * Acting as a point of contact for clients and third parties on routine matters and enquiries

    * Conducting basic legal and corporate research using resources such as LexisNexis or Westlaw

    * Assisting with time recording, processing invoices and preparing billing records

    * Providing general administrative support to the litigation team as required

    * Travelling between offices if required

    Litigation Assistant Requirements

    * Genuine interest in a career in law - previous legal experience is helpful but not essential

    * Strong people skills with the ability to support clients through a stressful process

    * Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a focus on accuracy and professionalism

    * Strong Microsoft Office skills

    * Well organised with the ability to manage multiple tasks and maintain attention to detail

    * Motivated to deliver high-quality service and develop professionally

    Benefits

    * Competitive salary dependent on experience

    * Travel allowance

    * 25 days holiday plus Bank Holidays (pro rata)

    * Birthday leave and Christmas Eve off

    * Pension scheme

    * Cashback health scheme

    The Ideal Candidate

    The ideal candidate will be a motivated and personable individual with a genuine enthusiasm for law and a desire to build their career within a supportive litigation team. Whether you have previous legal experience or are looking to make your first steps into the legal sector, what matters most is a positive attitude, strong communication skills, and a commitment to excellent client service.
