How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Are you a commercially driven sales professional with experience selling technical, scientific or compliance-focused services?

    Our client is a growing UK-based provider of specialist laboratory and analytical services, supporting customers across environmental, industrial, infrastructure and regulatory markets. They are seeking an ambitious BDM/Sales Manager to drive business growth, develop strategic customer relationships and expand their presence across a range of sectors where quality, compliance and technical assurance are critical.

    This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys opening new doors, managing complex sales opportunities and working closely with technical specialists to deliver solutions that genuinely add value to customers.

    The Role

    The successful candidate will take ownership of both new business development and key account growth, identifying opportunities where laboratory testing, analytical services, contract analysis and technical consultancy can support customer objectives. You will engage with organisations operating in highly regulated environments, helping them address compliance requirements, quality assurance challenges and operational risks through a range of specialist testing and analytical solutions.

    Key Responsibilities

    * Identify and secure new business opportunities across targeted industrial and commercial sectors.

    * Develop and manage a robust sales pipeline, maintaining visibility of opportunities and forecasts.

    * Lead opportunities from initial prospecting through qualification, proposal, negotiation and contract award.

    * Build trusted relationships with technical, operational and procurement stakeholders.

    * Promote a portfolio of laboratory testing, analytical and technical support services.

    * Work collaboratively with operational teams to develop commercially attractive and technically robust solutions.

    * Prepare tenders, quotations and commercial proposals.

    * Monitor market trends, customer requirements and emerging regulatory drivers.

    * Represent the business at industry events, conferences and networking activities.

    * Deliver sustainable revenue growth against agreed sales targets.

    About You

    You will be a confident and credible scientific sales professional who is comfortable operating within technical environments and engaging with a variety of stakeholders.

    You may currently be working within:

    * Laboratory testing services

    * Environmental monitoring

    * Water quality and water testing services

    * Analytical chemistry

    * Inspection, testing and certification

    * Technical consultancy

    * Scientific instrumentation

    * Industrial compliance services

    Essential Requirements

    * Proven success in B2B sales and business development.

    * Experience selling technical services, laboratory services or other consultative solutions.

    * Strong commercial and negotiation skills.

    * Ability to understand complex customer requirements and translate them into commercial opportunities.

    * Experience managing longer sales cycles and multiple stakeholders.

    * Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.

    * Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel nationally.

    Desirable Experience

    * Knowledge of environmental, water, infrastructure or industrial markets.

    * Experience selling contract laboratory analysis, water testing or compliance-related services.

    * Understanding of regulated industries and quality assurance frameworks.

    * Familiarity with CRM systems and structured sales processes
